I wake up to find out the Pats won the game hmy: Unreal. I thought this would end up with the Eagles winning. I shut it after the TD scored by the Eagles in the beginning of the 4th quarter. Did Brady and the offense get into a groove, or was it the the Eagles defense that blew it?
Madden was actually much better in his analysis last night then what he usually offers IMO (not even one "Boom!". was ready (instead of just freeing up tons of open space for his receivers which is what happened when the blitzes were being picked up.) On the defensive side the issue with the Patriots was quite evidentBut when he started to go on about how the Eagles had started to create a "blueprint" on how to beat the Patriots it seemed a little simplistic to me. Last night the Eagles did what everyone has tried to do to the Pats on defense which is: pressure Tom Brady. The difference between last night and basically every other game was that the Eagles were actually able to get those blitzes in on Brady and force him to throw before he and really surprising to me. The Pats d-line simply could not get anywhere near the qb and blitzing didn't seem to help. Unless you have 4 genetic copies of Deion Sanders playing in your secondary chances are that any defense will get lit up against NFL receivers if all day is given to the opposing qb. So according to John Madden the Eagles have discovered the secret blueprint for beating the Patriots which shockingly is exactly the same as it is any basically any game of football ever: give the other qb less time to throw and take away long passes= success for your defense, give your quaterback all day to throw against man-man coverage= success for your offense. The only secret formula the Eagles discovered last night is play your ass off and win the battle at the line.
The Patriots going 19-0 will not change the fact the Dolphins went 17-0 in 1972. The 1972 Dolphins are still going to get a tremendous amount of love for the rest of your life. The 2007 Patriots would receive even more love. You'll have to deal with both. If you are a Jets fan, it becomes a no-brainer. In no way do you want the Patriots to go undefeated.
Well, as someone pointed out, Greg Lewis mocked Randy Moss' first. Next, as for what possible grudge could he have against Philly-- the Eagles cut Jabar last year.
I actually really like Jabar Gaffney. It's too bad he's on the Pats. I found it cool last year in the AFC Championship Game that he and Dan Klecko both scored TDs seeing how their fathers were teammates.
