Absolutely. I just can't recall a head coach openly and publicly refusing to wish a guy well.

It's obviously an honest, emotional response. I like it.

Bitch move? Fucking traitor? How about bleeding green for 11 years ... and get rewarded with a minimum contract offer.

I am not saying he is or isn't worth more .... but you have to take a step back and look at it from the players perspective.

Wow... not surprising given the past few days. Not that I mind that he signed elsewhere but I wish we would go back to the days when a rivalry was more to the fans then it was the players.

There are certain things that should never happen in sports. Players should not leave the Red Sox to sign with the Yankees. Celtics should not ever sign with the Lakers. Islanders should never sign with the Rangers and Jets should never sign with the Pats regardless of the money.

I'll take the high road on what I think of Ellis as a person for doing this but I'll say it sucks when you see a guy take 12 years with the Jets and then be like fuck you I'm playing for your hated rival. It's not like Taylor because Rex didn't say get lost, we attempted to bring him back.

    +1 on this

He was basically told to take the min or don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. If the Jets don't want him, then they have no bitch where he ended up.

You think BB was bothered greatly when Milloy signed with the Bills? He probably said, great, we know all this guys weaknesses and will exploit him when we play.

This thread is funny. How long will it be before a Jets fan uploads a video to Youtube burning a Shaun Ellis jersey?

Is the NFL only a business when it benefits the Jets?

I just woke up and see this on the computer. WTF is going on.He is a lifer with the Jets! He should vomit at the thought of playing with the pats. He understands the intense hate that simmers in this rivalry more than any other player that was on the sideline for the Jets. Very disturbing indeed. And don't bag on people who say he is dead to them. This a like your mom or wife dumping your dad or you and fucking your most hated enemy from high school. Then telling you all the details every time you see her. I know its a business but come on Ellis anybody but the fucking pats. Fuck no more Big Kat killing Tom effing Brady when we need it the most. I will miss you #92.

#92 you're dead to me. We lose cotch and Ellis in the same year and pickup cheddar bob and two rookies. This is a rebuilding year. Ellis should have been resigned, not impressed with mgmt right now.

You don't sign with the pats after 11 seasons with the Jets. Ellis can eat a cock meat sandwich. Have fun hanging out with belli! You should have jumped ship with Abe, bum!

He made over $30 Mil with the Jets over his career. Until we see what his contract is, if it was posted already I don't know, I can't really say how I feel yet.
If he signed for $1.2-$1.4 Mil over the $910,000 then I will lose respect for him. Yes $300K-$500K is a lot of money to the average person but for someone who should have a nice nest egg put away from the previous $30 Mil it should not make too big of a difference and you would think he would show some loyalty to the team that paid him the $30+ Mil over the last 11 years.

This is what happens when a player is disrespected. Offering him the league minimum was a joke. Jets got what they deserved and now this guy is gonna be all wound up for the Jets and do against the Jets, what he did against the Pats in the playoffs, when he was all wound up.

Ellis played his ass off for the Jets for 11 years, and the Jets rewarded him handsomely for it (he's made about $40 million in his career if I'm not mistaken.) Neither party owed the other one anything.

It sucks that he's going to a division rival, but he's totally justified in taking the best offer. And the Jets were totally justified in only offering him what they think he's worth (you can't pay for past production in this league.)

I wish the guy all the luck in the world in his personal life, and I hope his career finishes with a sad whimper in New England.

I think folks need to understand the bottom line here, Rex &Tanny are going to do whatever it takes to improve this club every chance they get.

This is the direction of the NYJETS, the days of keeping players past there prime are over. We as fans might really appericate the player and all he has done. We may become very upset when he signs with a hated rival, but it's business..

Rex and Tanny are in the business of building a winner, a Super Bowl Winner, as well as a long term contender. This will often require letting long time Jets move on to upgtade there spots.

I have seen many times in the past how we kept players who were all but done and hear the masses roar with displeasure about how we should have let tem go and got this one or that. Both Rex and Tanny have made no secrect of this or lied to any player about there intentions....

And those blaming Ellis, get it straight. Everytime the Jets shortchange a player on the offer it's, "that's business,,," well this was business also.

F Shaun Ellis. He is a member of the enemy now and wants to kill Mark Sanchez, our quarterback. He is dead to me.....

All of that aside though, its time the Jets get younger on the D-Line. Wilkerson wants it and as you saw by his draft day celebration, WANTS to be a Jet and wants to contribute to the team unlike Ellis. Lets go young fella, show em what ya got!
