Exactly. I'll tell him to go fuck himself when he signs elsewhere for the vet minimum. Otherwise, I'll just hope he sucks all season.
Seems like Ellis just wasn't a part of the Jets plans going further. I ridn't really think he would be back here this season, not after the Jets asked him to play out his contract last year. I'm not that pissed about him picking the Pats since I doubt that many other teams had any interest in signing him and Belichick would sign just about anyone who was on our roster. I just hope that the CS and FO were right, that he doesn't have much left in the tank and that he bombs in New England.
I'm prefacing this question to you all by stating that I'm in no shape or form a Yankees fan....In fact, I pretty much hate them..... What do players like Scott Brosius, Tino Martinez, Bernie Williams, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, etc. all have in common?
Oh man now that I think about it, I missed David Clowney as the slot receiver.. Kenyon Coleman at DE.. and most importantly, the qb of the future.. Brett Ratliff!!
With me being a Red Sox fan since 1986, damon, Boggs, and clemens can all eat shit..... How would Yankee fans feel if jeter or Mo signed with the Sox. That is what Ellis did for the most part, granted he will not go down as one of the best to wear a Jet uniform but he was a good player in his years. The bottom line is go to another team other than those fucks.....
Doesn't bother me, at all. Are these the same fans who said 'it's a business' in all of the Cotchery threads the same ones saying Ellis is a sellout? Works both ways, and I don't care if it's the Pats or not. This isn't a player going to our rival at the peak of his career.
"The fact that he chose them, like I said before, there's no way I'm going to wish him well. There's no chance of that. I wish him to be healthy, but I don't want him to play that well."- Rex
My point was, that they did their jobs, even won Championships, and when the Yankees FO thought they served their purpose the team did not resign them because it wasnt feasible to do so. And for the most part they were right.
Completely different scenario. Cotchery asked for his release, he wanted to leave for his own personal reasons.
That's not his point. He's saying that when it was first announced that the Jets released Cotchery, a bunch of people here defended the Jets by saying it was "just business" and that we "root for the jersey, not the player" - so for them to criticize a player for handling HIS business is hypocritical.
Cotchery asked for his release only after he read the tea leaves and felt he was underpaid, underappreciated, etc. Ellis wanted to return but we didn't offer enough. Different, but not entirely in my opinion. Both are examples of how the business works.
This is a non-event except for the sentimental implications. I myself thought Gerry Philbin or Joe Klecko had a year or two left and should have been brought in this year to fill as a rotational DE. As for the mentoring thing, isn't that why there are position coaches??? If Ellis didn't want to play here for one more year for a little less than what the Pats offered, does anyone really think he would have selflessly coached up the players who were brought into replace him??????
this is still not worse then Taylor coming to the Jets from a Dolphins point of view. But Taylor is a sellout, thought Ellis had something more. guess not. I hate the pats and all their players.. so yes I now hate Ellis too. hope he ends his career getting injured in the meadow-lands.
