Don't forget Holmgren runs shit now in Cleveland, he won't make as dumb of a trade as the browns did in the past. That trade could get it done I agree but with the rise in value of draft picks this year because players can't be traded id see it as harder to be convinced by.
I think the reaction to Johnnys comment was a bit over blown, yes there is going to be a drop off, but are you stepping off the side walk or dropping off a fuck cliff. In otehr words, Are you going to be green bay switching to rodgers, or Miami still looking for the guy to follow Marino 20 years later. Its a possibility they are looking QB, but I'm more inclined to agree with everyone else it will be thier top ranked defender on the board be it Quinn or Peterson or an elite 5T. They drafted Seymour 6th over all. If they think a player like Cam Jordan is the second coming it would not shock me at all.
Typical statement from this evojoe. so da hell wut if da pats draft robert quincy from north colorado st! we still gonna beat em!
funny I thought it sounded a little like Rex. It doesn't matter if you give us your best, we're gonna give you our best, and we're gonna beat the fuck outta ya! Let's go get it!
Just saw this about Patriot's intent. Not sure I buy it though. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/28/mort-patriots-trying-to-trade-up-for-cameron-jordan/ Mort: Patriots trying to trade up for Cameron Jordan Posted by Evan Silva on April 28, 2011, 4:06 PM EDT Getty ImagesPlenty of trades are expected on the draft’s first day, and no team has more ammunition than the New England Patriots. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Patriots are trying to put it to use. Mort reports that the Patriots are involved in trade talks with the Cowboys. Bill Belichick’s target is California defensive end Cameron Jordan. The Patriots are presumably dangling at least their No. 17 overall pick. Dallas is at No. 9 overall. One of New England’s second-round picks would probably get them to nine. The Cowboys have been heavily rumored as being one of the teams trying hard to move down the board.
I've had a feeling for a while that the Patriots are going to trade up (for once) but I wasn't sure who for. I'm hoping it's not Quinn.
I think it all depends on how they have Jordan rated as compared to the other DEs and their other needs. If they think he is head and shoulders above the other prospects, or think he is the 2nd coming of Richard Seymour and fear that the Chargers or someone else will take him before #17, I think it makes perfectly good sense. They've seen how the Jets have traded up for impact players, and have plenty of picks to burn. They could give up the #17 and #33 pick and still have another 2nd rd pick and 2- 3rds (I believe) to address the OL, RB and OLB positions.
The Chargers aren't going to move THAT far ahead to snag Jordan. The rumor reported was moving from 17 to 9. That seems excessive. If you're concerned about the Chargers jumping ahead (which I find unlikely until he falls into the teens), you're likely concerned they'll use OUR pick, not their own. Drop your own late 2nd and move up a few slots. Jumping to 9 for Jordan seems silly.
pro football just updated with there version of a retraction. plus I'm more worried about Smith,Watt,or Jordan falling to them at 17. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ght-pats-arent-trading-up-for-cameron-jordan/
