Wow, this is some tremendous vitriol from a person who has no idea what he's talking about. Believe it or not, some of us actually watch these New York Jets. Some of us even watch the players who don't have the ball in their hands. (Crazy, I know!) Hank Poteat is a good cornerback. He's actually the second best corner on our roster. Losing him would be serious. Losing him to the Patriots would be more serious. But seriously, how could you possibly be a Jets fan and not appreciate our starting corner from last year? Or even be aware of him? And then proceed to belittle him? AND THEN call out other people for defending him?
Quit sticking your nose in other people's conversations. Im sure your a Hank Poteat expert. What exactly do you like about Hank Poteat? What are his strengths? Does he have good ball skills? Quickness? Is he physical? Is he a leader to the younger players?
Hahaha! As if we were at some restaurant and I just walked over to your table and pulled up a chair? It's a friggin' message board, buddy! I didn't tap into your phone lines or anything. What I LOVE about Hank Poteat is: a) His tight coverage skills. He has the excellent outside technique you'd expect from a veteran cornerback. b) He rarely gets caught out of position and when he does, he has good recovery. c) He's solid in run support and always has a nose for the ball. We had a lot of gang tackling late last year. It's not something you get statistics for; it's just good football. d) The defense improved during the second half of the year, roughly around the same time Eric Mangini saw fit to give Hank Poteat the starting job ahead of David Barrett and Andre Dyson. Also, since you brought up "trusting Mangini," Mangini coached him at New England and then stole him for the Jets. e) He played in more games, started more games, had more tackles and had more interceptions last year than any year in his career, which tells me he's getting better with age. f) He's a crafty veteran with an intimate knowledge of the Patriots' defensive schemes and an excellent teacher to Darelle Revis and whomever else we draft this year. So, yeah, he's a good cornerback. We shouldn't let him go and sign with New England, carrying away our defensive playbook like a present for Billy B. Sorry for butting into your conversation, but you're in a public forum and I consider it my civic duty and my responsibility as a Jets fan to attack your nonsense.
I love threads like this. One person will weed themselves out of the ranks of intelligence without even realizing it.
