I would give a 6th round pick for Mac Jones. He's fairly likely to live up to that over the next few seasons.
Hard pass. Belichick realizes Jones is not a long-term solution and that's why he's getting shopped. It's funny how all that winning stopped up there since Brady left town.
If you think Mac Jones is good, I have a bridge and a brand new brownstone home in BK to sell you. Dm me ASAP!!!
You mean that if the Jets had scored just one point more in the October game they would have had an 80% chance of winning?
They are different QB styles but have had the same amount of success: Jones 36 TDs 24 INTs 66.5 comp % 89 QBR Lawrence 37 TDs 25 INTs 62.9 comp% 83.4 QBR Jones' career rating of 89 is better than TL's 83.4, and better than Fitz's one good year with us, 88.
That's true. But they both had one year of bad coaching. TL's was his first year and Jones' was last year where he didn't even have an OC and continually said he didn't understand their offense, and still finished with an 85 QBR. I'm not saying Jones will end up better than TL, but he worth a lot more than a 6th round pick.
I think the Patriots hide deficiencies (even with their clusterfuck offensive coaching situation last year) better than any team in the NFL. Their screen game is always elite with a bevy of backs that can catch out of the backfield. Watching Mac Jones, I think his ceiling is what was seen his rookie year and that ceiling means playoff berths with a good team surrounding him (like a lot of QB’s). Middle of the road QB who can probably improve as he reads more defenses. I don’t particularly like him as a person though. He’s been caught kicking and tripping a lot of defensive lineman after he’s been sacked or tackled or thrown picks. He also throws what look like a lot of hissy fits on the field rather than man-anger fits.
According to Sports Talk up here in New England Jones went behind Bills back and complained to Nick Saban. The coach didn't like it and the relationship has been tense. In fact whenever Bill is asked about the QB situation he never mentions Jones by name.
Drama queens (and yes Belichick is being a drama queen) don't last long unless they're winning. Belichick was winning all these years, so he got away with behavior other coaches wouldn't, but I don't know how much longer he'll keep getting away with it.
