They did sweep us last year. Give credit where it's due. However, Jets are very capable of sweeping the gayfins.
Patriots draft picks next year: 1, 1 (possible top 10 pick from Raiders), 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6,7. Brady's got another 5 years of where he's at now and if they continue to build on their '09,'10 drafts they will remain in it for awhile. Edit: Assuming we don't trade all those down for 20 4th round picks running up through 2016.
First up, you don't know that Brady has another 5 years at the level he's at right now. You hope he can, but that's another story. Second, I don't know that I'd be bragging about the amount of draft picks that they have when with all of the recent picks they've had very few have become impact players for them. I'm not saying they won't be part of the conversation for the AFC east, but the days of them showing up and winning because of the aura is over...
How so? Brick and Mangold are signed long term. Revis signed for a minimum of 4 more years. Harris will be a RFA and resigned. Sanchez keeps getting better and signed for 3/4 more years. If Cro continues to play this way, he will be resigned longterm. Holmes/Edwards, 1 or 2 will be resigned. Slausen is proving to be a solid replacement for Faneca. Ducasse will most likely replace Woody next year. So the O-Line will remain dominant for years. Keller, Cotchery, all will be here. Pouha seems capable to take over for Jenkins. Plus have we almost all of our picks for next year. Where exactly is this small window?
You guys are just going to keep trading half of those 2's, 3's, and 4's for future 2's, 3's, and 4's, all the while drafting alright/pretty good depth players, even when you guys could easily package those picks and acquire top 10 talents.
indeed. up until two hours ago, many jet fans - including me, a little - were ready to pack in the season. anything can happen and injuries worry me. though if it's a couple games of being short-handed, it could be a good challenge to bring the team together and develop the backups a bit.
That was a good game. they kept crossing with the slot receiver and we caught up to it. Can't wait for next time. If we can sweep, I will die a happy man.
As has been pointed out, they beat us twice last year Don. They're also a fierce division rival and they're up a game on us so yeah, I'm concerned more about them than I am about Farve and Peterson later in the season.
If you're judging Sanchez based on today, don't. Patriots have serious problems in the db area. As I said, let's let the season play out. I was on this board last week and you all wanted to run him out of town. The Patriots with NO pass rush sacked Sanchez 3 times today. Let's see how you play away from home.
I still think Butler is a good player but he's been the weak spot in the secondary the last two weeks. He also has problems with the PI. Well I was looking at this game as a measure of the Patriots and I got it. The defense is what we thought it was. Not quite as bad as I thought but still young and quite vulnerable. I still like the offense but they are going to need to keep the offensive pressure up for the whole game. Fortunately it is just week 2. There's a LOT of football to be played and the AFC East is still up for grabs.
