Exactly. He's not a huge possession reciever like Shockey but he can catch when he has to and he blocks wonderfully.
Chris Baker is a borderline top 10 TE in the NFL. While he isn't elite in any one area, he is solid in all aspects: run blocking, pass blocking, route running, and hands. With improved pass blocking from our OL this season, Baker will be more utilized in the passing game and should be able to become more of a playmaker. Don't be surprised to see Baker break out and have his most productive season.
Ever since Antonio Gates break out, a lot of teams are looking at big college basketball players with athletic ability. You never know when the next one will come along
hey i live 10 minutes from siena and he was a vrey good basketball player and has great soft hands when he wasnt hurt he was dominating.. besides didnt gates play basketball with no college football experience
It's not that he has to improve, because I don't think he is doing anything wrong. What needs to be done, is that Baker needs to be used more often. I think we will see that season. It was so hard to understand why people wanted Greg Olsen drafted, because Chris Baker is a good TE, no need to get a replacement.
Chris Baker is the Touchdown Maker. He is an untapped resource on this team. We need to get him the damn ball. TBTF
He had problems staying healthy in a sport that pales in comparison when it comes to physical contact. And i'd be careful with soft hands - they could lead to fumbilitis!!!!!!!!!!!!
it depends...if u rank them by pass catching he would be in the top 10 but if u rank by blocking I would say 15-20. I believe in this day of age u want a TE with better pass catching then blocking.IMO
How can you rank him as a pass catching TE when he is hardly used in that capacity. For whatever reason since he was drafted he has been severely over looked in the passing game. Now whether that stems from an inability to get open, a lack of something we can not see from practice, Chad having a predisposition to avoid TE's, and/or he is being used mostly in blocking schemes, who knows. He certainly looks pretty good when called upon, problem is he is not called upon enough to accurately guage whether it is a combo of the above or just that he is underutilized.
Wow...... not in any particular order 1.antonio gates 2.tony gonzales 3.daniel graham 4.ben watson 5. vernon davis 6. jeremy shockey 7.heath miller 8. i dont get how you guys can have such strong opinions about this the honest answer for me, is that i havent focused in on him during games, even the games i rewatch, i normally look at line play, but i didnt even key in on baker's blocking baker never stood out to me as screwing up a lot, and he made some clutch plays. but this is one i have to leave up to the coaching staff
Smith and Cooley...Cooley is also used ad=s a FB from time to time. Ummm Vernon Davis...Did he even play 3 games last year?
and chris baker has ? wtf are you saying ? kellen winslow 89 rec. 875 yds chris baker 31 rec 300 yds... Vernon Davis was better then chris baker when he was home watching his team play
O yah he plays primarily @ TE. Dont get it twisted. You dont honestly think chris baker is better then vernon davis, do you. Do you ....
I like Chris Baker. That being said, if someone offered Vernon Davis for Chris Baker and a 5th rounder, I'd take it without even blinking twice.
Hey.. Here's a guy paying attention!! There all camp body's unless they show the have the "Right Stuff".
