Drafting Sewel would create problems. Becton & Sewell are both left tackles & want to play left tackle & be payed like left tackles.
Well if he turns into a star & whoever we take turns into a bust, JD loses his job. It’s just the nature of a results business.
Great trade. I wish Sam all the best. Time to move on. As for the compensation, forget what the media has been saying. Some said as high as a 1st round pick, but why would someone trade a first for a player who hasn’t been playing to a 1st round talent. They got a smidge worse value than Arizona who traded a QB who was only going into his second year. Sam has had 3 years of tape and declined sharply this year. I thought a 2nd this year and 4th next year would be good value, so a second next year is worth less but they got a 6th rounder this year at least. Look for Joe D to move one of those 6ths for a veteran in a creative move.
Panthers were a team going HARD after Watson. They cleared a ton of cap to absorb his contract. Rumors had Christian Mccaffrey as part of their offer to Texans. Looks like that's all over now.
Truth is I believe that Trevor is the only QB worth a high round pick. The other QBs are benefiting from Mahomes and Watson PTSD from NFL teams. Teams are terrified to miss on the next big QB prospect. The second best player in the draft that can start day one is Penei Sewell and he’s considered a can’t miss all-pro teetering on HOF capacity.
Wish Sam nothing but the best in his career but it was clear that him moving on was best for all parties
Best of luck Sam. Hope he does great. Just not against us. With Matt Rulhe and Joe Brady Sam will finally have some good coaching.
There simply shouldn’t be concern’s about JD’s ability at this point. He knows how to dictate trades. Now he just needs to hit on these picks.
You really gonna act like this is a resounding victory for you when your most recent thoughts on Darnold were that JD would be looking to sign him to a 3 year extension?
Perfect fit for Darnold. If he can't make it with Joe Brady and those offensive skill pieces it will never happen.
I agree he better nail all these picks. I know Sam wasn't his pick and he had no loyalty to him. But now he has to deliver some talent and Saleh does not have the benefit of finding his way as a head coach. Minimum playoffs this year. Not trying to hear about injuries and schedule being the issue. It's all gas no brakes from this moment on.
Right, seems like the value is off to me too. Either way, looks like the Jets will have 4 top 50 picks in 2022 now. I’d say that’s pretty good value for a bottom-tier QB.
