I think it’s more a QB competition between him and Teddy

it will be interesting if they extended the 5th year or opt out

Can we still take Devonta Smith at #2? Asking for a friend.

Just admit you were dead wrong and move along....All it took was for one team to see Sam as a starter. Bingo. (and for JD not to listen to TGG experts and trade him for a 4th round pick ;))

Very interesting take from Warren Sharp here. Seems like great value for Sam!

Funny how Teddy and Sammy were on the Jets, now on the Panthers. Did they ever have a chance at competition, or did we ship Teddy out too soon? I can't remember.

Honestly, I wish him nothing but the best, but I'm glad he's gone. Getting a 2nd, a 4th and a 6th for him is pretty damn good as well.

I’m not a Fields fan but if JD drafts him I’ll root for him.

I liked Darnold but the dude needs a different situation. He got a totally raw deal, I think he would have fared well if the Jets had any idea how to succeed with a young QB at the time. Let's see what the new guys can do with their guy.

Would not be fair for Darnold to go under the 3rd coaching staff with the Jets. Let him get a new surrounding and less pressure media. It is best to start with a new QB with a new coaching staff. It s simple.
Meanwhile we re not winning this year but hopefully we’re building a more competitive team . To throw in with another 5 top picks in 2022 in the first 3 rounds again is a decent way to build the team. Whether JD excels in this year’s and next years draft remains to be seen. Regardless it s the right choice and right path.

I'm not making excuses for anyone. I'm saying that given what we know now I think this is a good trade. There's no way to know what would have happened if Darnold stayed on the Jets. That goes both ways, whether he turns out to be a bust in Carolina or a good qb - it doesn't mean it would have played out the same way here. The reality is we'll never know what might have been based on what happens elsewhere in a different circumstance. I'll be judging JD on who he chooses to bring in and how well those players perform on the Jets.

I know you youngsters go deep into this draft analysis stuff. Anyone want to lay out Fields vs Wilson?

that's wrong though because of devaluation of picks over time. in reality it's equal to getting a high 3rd this year assuming that the panthers are a below average team (around 12th worst)

with that said I still like the move alot. we didn't have a 4th next year so he got that back and added a 2nd giving us 2 1sts and 2 2nds next year alone with 2 1sts a 2nd and 2 3rds this year. we have 10 picks in the 1st 3 rounds in the next 2 years. that's enough to overhaul the whole team
