He's identical to Bryan Thomas. It's eery. same exact circumstances, one year later. late first round bust, has a big contract year, gets rewarded with a ridiculously large deal
Don't worry about the guy...he probably hopped of the Falcons bandwagon yesterday when they signed Michael Turner. He's most likely just going to like the team that drafts McFadden.
keeper please stop so they have equal talent at wr but we could have chad johnson and torry holt and they would still be in better shape because they actually have a qb that can get the wrs the ball. noodle arm pennington clemens dont belong in same sentence with brady
What position was BT playing when he had his breakout year? Then the Jets had to move him due to the lack of talent with Hobson - Barton. We have found were BT excells and we had to transition him yet again to a new role. This Pace signing will now allow BT to move back into the role he excells in. People are quick to jump to conclussions with BT but dont take into account the reasoning behind it. I dont think he is an all-star but he is effective, if used properly in our defense. Pace will still be playing in the same position he was playing last year on this team. So everything should improve ten - fold.
Not identical, not even close. Thomas got 7 million guaranteed to stay in a system he had suddenly become good in. Pace is getting paid 22 million guaranteed to come in and shoehorn into our system.
I don't doubt that this could be a good deal for the Jets, I'm just nervous as I think we overpaid just to keep him away from the Fins. I think Briggs is a superior LB, and he only got 6 years 36 mil when he resigned with the Bears...
which is why i'm not sold on them ruling out Gholston, especially if McFadden is gone (say to Oakland). an injury to Thomas or Pace leaves us without a pass-rusher again. and in about 3 or 4 years, Pace and Thomas will probably start declining. i still think Gholston is a solid pick, and if not him, then Groves (but not Groves at #6).
So allow me to exaggerate a little. If they had given him the largest contract for a defensive player in NFL history, by your logic, it would be impossible to say that they overpaid because you don't know what you've paid for yet? I don't follow that logic but I hope to God he is a steal and last year is a sign of even better things to come for him and the Jets.
I agree with this post... the Jets rotate players a LOT, and I would much rather we have Vernon Gholston, rotating and learning with Thomas / Pace, not to mention pushing them and pressuring them not to lose their own starting jobs... than to see Matt Chatham step in every so often, bumbling and stumbling his way to more missed tackles.
I am saying you dont know how much value he will give us yet to know if we really did overpay. He may turn out to be worth every penny and then some. You cant know for sure yet, is what I am saying.
I haven't been this excited about a Jets offseason in awhile. I know they are spending a ton of money, but Tangini will never let us be in cap hell. He knows what he is doing with the cap. We are aggressive, I love it! Plus if DRob leaves and Penny next year, we'll free alot more money. I love it. Now we can pick BPA (McFadden, Gholston, Ellis) in the draft. Nice. I wouldn't mind trading down either. Go Jets!
That wouldn't be the same Randy who was open on the second to last play of the super bowl but couldn't be troubled to leave his feet to fight for the ball or draw a PI, would it? Pats still need someone for Brady to throw to when the games on the line.
i understood all the moves up until this one, there are alot olb we can draft for ALOT less money, are we trying to get leverage so we can trade the DMC pick, or are we just going to take DMC
Most common denominator. tom Brady... If this was 2004 the Jets would be knocking ball after ball out of the park. Mangini is clearly panicking. what else was he going to do though. These are moves that had to be done. bottom line is that Kellen Clemens is still taking snaps.
