The cap will catch up to these contracts in a year or two. Kris Jenkins did not get as much money as we originally thought.

The Jets will be fine to stay at six.

This is great. Now BT can move back to the weak side where he is better. Wow, I'm all excited! We can really draft BAP at #6 now, no need to plug holes! I'm all for drafting DMC if he is there.

This is going to lead to delusional expectations for Free Agency period for years to come.

Wow, I can't believe this. Have the Jets ever had a player named Calvin before?

It gives us so much option now.. It is truly sweet. Even if our intent isn't to draft DMac, other teams cant possibly know this now, which furthers that value/desperation. That would be the best scenario that can play out for us now.

Exactly. They overpaid drastically. I'd still think about taking Gholston. You can never have enough guys who can rush the passer.

We can draft McFadden and later on draft Groves or trade up for Harvey or something.

assuming cimini's numbers on jenkins contract are true, i'm going to wait for the real numbers on this contract to come out before saying we overpaid. considering that every outlet said we gave jenkins 5 years, $35 million with $20 million guaranteed while in reality (again assuming cimini is right) he got 5 years, $30.25 million with $9.5 million guaranteed.

also, as others have said, say what you want about tannenbaum, but he has shown himself time and again to be extremely smart when it comes to contracts and the cap. i have full faith he wouldnt risk putting us in cap hell based on his track record.

How do you know they overpaid drastically? You haven't seen what he can do for our team yet, so you cant truly make that conclussion yet. IMO.

    Gholston.. Ewwww.. No.. ewwwww...

I don't know about this one; I mean, look. Lance Briggs got something in tune of 36M (of which, 16M is guaranteed), and he is a proven commodity. Now, this? Hell, Tangini overdid it this time around, methinks.

Agreed. Everyone was flipping out over the Jenkins contract, but when the actual numbers came out, it was a highly favorable contract for us. So I will holdoff believing this $22million bonus until I see details.

If I have learned anything the last few days, it is that sports reporters, and the media in general, are competent. Things that were reporting incorrectly: Shaun Rogers to Cincy trade, details of Vilma trade, Jenkins contract, Pace was going to the Dolphins, etc.

I am also waiting on the details of the Faneca contract as well. I have a feeling it is much more favorable than what is being reported.

Tannenbaum knows how to handle the cap people, relax.

Do you think we're planning on getting McFadden now if he falls to 6 and Gholston is gone?

Same here, they were off with Jenkins contract and with Vilma's being traded for just a 3rd or 4th next year. People need to wait a few days and see what the actual contract is before worrying about the cap.

I say change the name of the team now if you were ever going to do it...because I have no idea who the hell is on this team right now.

I think you might as well fit DMac for his Jets jersey now, unless Dallas trades ahead of us that is..

Picking Gholston is still a viable move. Just imagine the depth of that LB Corp if we did. I think that BT and CPace will both have good years next season. With a monster at NT and a more balanced presence on the outside, whew...I see a very rattled Tom Brady throwing interceptions to Revis et al.

After this move and the Woody acquisition, the Jets have seriously shifted their drafting paradigm. So we have our 1st, 2nd, three 4th's, Cincy's 5th, our 6th and 7th Rd. picks (did I get this right?).
