Our defense was fine. Not their fault that the offense can't stay on the field.

I am still baffled by the fact that we let Poteat go and kept Coleman.

I disagree completely. That offensive line was just straight terrible. You could've put anyone behind that line, it would've been the same result. He is a good back, he just needs the supporting cast to allow him to shine.

Where now getting some stops up the middle (Jenkins) the Pass Rush is now pretty ill (Pace and Bryan Thomas coming back from la la land) but we still cant seem to get that big stop when we need it. Atleast against the cheatriots.

The run defense has been fine. Its easy to wear a team down late in the 4th when they have been out there so much and had to deal with shitty field position all day. This looks nothing like last years run D.

So far we have held the Phins to 2.9 per carry and the Pats to 3.2 per carry. If this is a bad run D then I want a bad one every game.

He is entitled to say whatever he wants. It doens't make him less of a douche for acting the way he does.

There were a number of factors that hurt the pass D, and one not mentioned above was Harris was not a factor.

Still, the three and out O combined with the heat was a problem.

The only reason the draw plays worked so well is that the defense was selling out to get to the QB. No one is complaining when this same strategy led to 3 sacks at the beginning of the second half.

The Jets had a successful strategy that caused a Patriot 3 and out and worked on the first play of the next Pats possession.

The Pats adjusted and used draws and screens with success.

The Jets adjusted and stopped over pursuing on the pass rush.

The Pats proceeded to pound L.Jordon down the defense's throats... who were too tired at this point because of sheer amount of time they had been on the field.

Blame the Offense for not producing. Blame the crappy field position all day. Blame the Pats for have 4 good RBs. I don't think the Run D was that bad.

i thought the d has looked great these first 2 games. tons more pressure on the qb and they have been able to hold up the run well for the most part

I totally agree with you mate...We gave up 104 yards rushing against a lousy OL on just 33 carries. They averaged a sky-high 3.1 yds a carry.

Even Miami racked up 49yds rushing against us on 17 carries. Thats 2.9 yds a rush.

So far we have given up 153yds rushing on 50 carries. Thats about 3 yards a carry.

If we dont step it up and keep the opponents to less than 30 yards rushing a game, we will never win a game. We have been absolutely pathetic. Giving up an avg. of 76.5 yards rushing a game with 3.0 avg puts us right where we were last yr. This is just absolute disgusting to see. All the teams will run all over us now. I really don't if we are the no.6 team as far as rush defense is concerned....

And the pass rush??? Dont even go there.....

I Thought the D was pretty good against the run but late in the 4th when we needed to make that stop against the run and like the same old jets we couldnt. Im not dubbing this team the same old jets just yet but damn it pissed me off.

From my perspective, comparing our run D with early season run D of recent years it is a huge improvement. So, I did some number research to put things in perspective and see if I was just "wishfully thinking". Stats don't always tell the whole story but IMO are useful as a comparison to test your perceptions of strengths/ weaknesses:

Jets Run Defense- 6th in League (yds)
Have been rushed against 50 attempts (25 per game avg) for 153 yards, (76.5 average per game) and a 3.06 average per carry, (which is 5th best in the league for surrendered YPC on rushing attempts). I'll take that all season long.

IMO- the biggest weakness of the defense is the LB coverage of TEs and RBs in the flats. We were gashed on numerous 3rd downs vs. both MIA and NE on this and was a weakness of our "old" 3-4 defense in the late 90s and into 2001 due to the speed of our old LBs. A second weakness so far is impact plays- only one take-away so far. We've done a good job limiting risk on the blitzes but have not really reaped thebig rewards yet either. I think once the LBs are more confident in each other and the scheme, we're a top- 5 defense.

Our offense is clearly our problem.... pass offense in general and drive sustainment in particular. Both MIA and NE executed more offensive plays (64 to 56; 59 to an abysmal 49) than us-- our offense is not in rhythm, sustaining drives, winning field position battle at all. Too many 3 and outs.

Dude....How can the run defense not sufffer when Jenkins comes out, he has no real back-up. Pouha is 2 light & better at DE. Pouha needs to play next to Jenkins.

Jets' will be better next season, they still are a growing team & need more personnell.
