Yeah I just don't think Macc is that clever. This is the guy that thought Hackenberg was the one and drove to Happy Valley to schedule a last minute workout. I can't remember the last time the Jets had a QB they drafted fairly high that didn't see the field at all in 2 years.
Here's where being a fan muddies the water. What GM, for any team or sport, isn't clever. He took a big risk, thought he might catch lighting in a bottle. Took a QB that a short time earlier was the top recruited HS QB. Who under B O'Brien and the Patriot O excelled. Play feel of with the change of HC and offensive philosophy. Throw in a total lack of an OL. Shit, the guy gets to live it down. Elway hasn't drafted a QB, ever. Yet he's looked at as a QB guru. Drafter Osweiler and others, including a trade up in the first for Lynch. While Macc let him go, whole fans were screaming to draft him.
Nope it wasn't. Just because it didn't fit into your narative of all things are golden with Macc. People have difference of opinions, learn to deal with it or not get bent out of shape when you don't like what someone says.
I'm not trying to be a menance but I'm not understaning what you're trying to say here. Can you clarify before I comment on this. I just want to make sure before I answer this and that I understand . Not being a smart aleck.
only 1 more year of this,,,,one more damn year then we can try AGAIN to get it right ! Sucks to be a Jet fan right now but at least we are not the Browns,,,,,OH WAIT soon people will no longer be saying that it will be at LEAST WE ARE NOT THE JETS !
Over and over and over again. We have the third pick. There are at least three QBs Mac is happy with. He Is now doing final due diligence to freeze the ranking. HE KNOWS For almost absolute sure: He might get to pick the first QB selected ( highly unlikely) or the second QB selected ( most likely) or third QB selected ( least likely) or he might shock the world and not pick a QB and be crucified for ever more( extremely unlikely) Fact remains, HE will react according to his ranking and nothing else. if he was interested in fans inputs he would open up a price winning contest. One thing is guaranteed. After the selection, some fans will be very happy, some ambivalent, some pissed because it was not their choice, and many other will remain perennially pissed no matter who we pick. That is the draft gospel according to Jet fans. Rinse, repeat, hope and pray we nail it on day one.
Sorry I didn't check on the spell check, lol. It was meant to say "play fell off with the change....". The OL fell apart and Hack ill suited to run the new offense, never was comfortable and as efficient as he was under O'Brien.
" you hit on draft picks , you miss on others ,its part of the process " " Sometimes your alarm does not go off , you miss a meeting or your late it happens , its not the end of the world " = exactly why we are in the shape that we are in as a franchise and organization !
Sometimes you lead police on a high speed chase, resist arrest, and tell the arresting officer you'll nut in his wife's eye. It happens. You do your community service, sit 4 games, and then make the pro bowl. Life goes on dried and shut.
I'm not bent out of shape at all. Just trying to present the facts March 17th we trade for the 3rd pick: http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/s...-no-3-pick-nfl-draft-trade-indianapolis-colts March 21st: Report comes out we tried to trade up to the 1 pick: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...o-1-pick-before-blockbuster-trade-with-colts/ March 26th: you made this thread complaining on why we didn't try to trade up higher then 3 even though several reports came out we did 5 days before you made this thread
I give Mac a ton of credit for moving up to the 3rd pick and inquiring about the top pick. Can't fault him for trying. That said, I wish he took Mahomes and Kamara last year.
I'm still not sold on mahomes. I mean he played 1 meaningless game, and had a 76.4QBR with 0TDs and 1 INT. not saying he won't be good, but he's hardly the measure of sucess
That's fair, I felt that he could become our FQB. I wasn't sold on Petty or Hack becoming the answer and Adams won't have the same level of impact a FQB would. It won't matter if Mac finds the FQB this year.
Like in 1991 out GM the late Dick Steinberg was late tarding up and getting Brett Favre. He had the vision but just late to the game. That is how you wind up with a Browning Nagle.
Browning “I throw so hard nobody can catch the ball” Nagle. At least that’s what my 10 year old self remembers.
There was that game against Atlanta,,,,,,,then not much else,,,,,,,,,Brett Favre would have been nice,,,,,oh well
He had a trade to trade 2 picks ahead with I believe the Cardinals to move ahead of Atlanta to take Favre but at the last second the Cardinals backed out thinking the Jets or Falcons might take their guy. But even if Favre had been drafted by NY there is no guarantee he would have changed his lifestyle enough to improve his play like he did when he was traded to GB.
