Your right but reember he's not not going to carry the load such as a Larry JOhnson type washington would be able to spot him and help him out in the backfield.
Really could not disagree more. I think that Leon WILL turn into a Tiki Barber/Michael Westbrook type FEATURE back. We do not need to take a RB high in this years draft. We need better run blocking, not a better running back. Let's not forget how worn down all rookies are right now. With an offseason rest, and a year in the weight and training program, Leon will come in next year fitter, fresher and stronger. He has shown the ability to run between the tackles early, but he has hit the wall, and needs the offseason to get that back. However, Leon is ELITE in the open field. He will work his way into the feature role, I can almost guarantee it. More importantly though, our run blocking is just not that good. We would be better served going OL again with our first pick than Marshawn Lynch, and I suspect we will pick a RT or RG in our first three picks.
no RB this year. Let us see what we have with Leon & Cedric. If they don't pan out, hope that Ray Rice declares early and draft him!!
Everyone keeps saying that, but as a San Diego guy I am very familiar with the Chargers and GM AJ Smith, and I think that people just do not understand how Smith operates, and how hard nosed he really is. I see NO WAY that the Jets or any other team will get Turner for anything less than a first round pick. In fact, I am almost certain that Smith will put the highest tender on Turner and let the chips fall where they may. If someone wants him, they will have to pony up the 1st and 3rd round picks the tender requires to get him. Smith might, just might allow him to go in a trade for a first but there is Zero, absolutely ZERO chance he will trade Turner for a 2nd. He just does not operate that way. If Schott, Mangini and Tannenbaum decide they want Turner it will cost us our first rounder at least.
you think? he let Brees go for nothing, could he let that happen again? I think a second and maybe 4th would get it done.
Brees had a wrecked shoulder, and Rivers in waiting. Keep in mind that the quarterback situation was a headache in San Diego; Michael Turner is acting as a patient heir apparent to the best player in football today.
still got nothing for brees and doesn't he look good. I really don't think SD wants nothing in return for a backup, but i could be wrong.
I rather get a stopgap guy Ahman Green might be cut Fred Taylor? Anthony Thomas? dillon could get cut something like 4 mil to keep 1.5 if they cut him Jamal Lewis he might be too pricey Chris Brown might be cheap will Foster make it to Panthers training camp? Michael Turner forget that he will get a 5 yr 20 mil deal with a 8 mil bonus from somewhere.... I think there will be plenty of FA's that will be cheap and we can use for 1 or 2 years before we think of drafting a RB I draft value.... plus its still early in the draft process not many RB's will be there at 25-32 that I like(or most teams like), most likely we will draft another position and remember FA comes before the draft as far as Lynch falling to us? Good luck I would be suprised if he got past GB. and I hate Irons and Bush....so i would go 3rd rnder or more
No, I agree entirely about Turner; SD will bleed the bidders dry, especially if the guy is actually trash. I'm just saying there were different factors at work in the Rivers/Brees situation. But yes, technically, they got nothing for their trouble.
That's okay, the tide will turn once people realize how much of this nonsense they'll have to deal with in the offseason and just go ahead and enjoy the playoffs.
Turner would be worth every cent. That guy is an outstanding RB, if he didnt play behind Tomlinson you would already know this. The Jets would be very lucky if they were able to aquire him. SD isnt going to set a high tender on him for nothing. They know what his FA value is going to be, and I agree with an above poster that SD will hold out for high value in return
That's just it. Tomlinson has a great FB/O-Line to work with. Askew is no where close to Neal, and our O-Line, while a step ahead from last year is still only average.
Let's be honest now. He's run for less than a thousand yards in 3 years. Yes, he's done well in limited action. However good he may, or may not, be as a feature back, it's unquestionable that until proven, any team that goes after him is taking a flier. Maybe he's injury prone; maybe he's fumble prone. It's not really fair or honest to act like he's proven. Just talente.d
There is no denying that SD has some other things going for it in the running game, but there is also no denying Turners ideal size, breakaway speed, and the fact he is playing behind the games best rb
