Yeah, I think that we do need to add one more receiver with a little experience but pretty much everyone on the market sucks. We should just wait and see who doesn't make it through training camp and grab the best route runner that gets cut.

remember back a few years ago when richie anderson was more often than not our slot receiver.

then again we are supposed to be going to the superbowl this year so a guy with at least some experience would be nice.

The one thing I like is that it doesn't appear the FO is trying to rush anything. They're willing to wait out Mason because of the dearth of quality FA WRs behind him. If Mason passes, I wouldn't mind seeing the team wait until after a couple of preseason games to sign a vet for depth. If one of the guys who has been with the team for a few years steps up (against FIRST team defenses. None of the old Clowney v scrubs bullshit.), great. If not? Sign a vet at that point.

At that point, Kerley would likely start in the slot, and a vet would have a chance to learn the offense without being relied upon to start unless, God forbid, something happened to Plax or Holmes.

    Meaning

Old, especially of horses or people.

    Origin

Horses's teeth, unlike humans', continue to grow with age. They also wear down with use, but the changes in the characteristics of the teeth over time make it possible to make a rough estimate of a horse's age by examining them.

There are various similar Latin phrases dating back to the 16th century. The gap between these and the first citation of the English version - in 1852, make it likely that 'long in the tooth' was coined independently from those earlier Latin sayings. That earliest citation is in Thackeray's, The History of Henry Esmond, Esq. and refers to a woman rather than a horse:

"His cousin was now of more than middle age, and had nobody's word but her own for the beauty which she said she once possessed. She was lean, and yellow, and long in the tooth; all the red and white in all the toy-shops in London could not make a beauty of her."

Thats fine but what if Kerley isnt ready to contribute right away to our team and be able to replace Cotchery's role in the offense? I dont care if we bring in a guy for only one year as long he can be productive for us.

Basically if the coaching staff thinks Kerley is ready to contribute from the start then go with him but if not then i'd rather see another guy brought in here to handle that role.

    Three things
1st he knows the city and might be less likely to get in trouble or other circumstances
2nd he knows the stadium well, which is a plus
3rd he wouldn't be needing to find a place to live which is a big benefit

I wouldn't mind Moss, but he just doesn't want to play from the sounds of things, at least not for the kind of contract we'd offer.

T.O. Had a good year last season, I wouldn't mind bringing him in for a workout, but he had the ACL issue in the offseason. He got hurt taping his reality show or some stupid bullshit:

There just isn't a lot out there to fill the spot if Burress does not succeed. In retrospect the Jets should have thrown some money at Braylon, Floyd or even Cotch to keep him happy.

For people who may still be living with mommy and daddy or never been anywhere in their life if may seem stupid, but familiarity is a big plus.

For a new guy the added pressure of learning your way around the city or driving to and from practice in a place you're new too doesn't help an already stressful situation.

Each stadium has its quirks too which already pays a lot in benefits.

Anyone who has moved a lot knows moving is stressful and a pain in the A$$, so playing in the same city that you previously did helps too.

So trolls who live in their parent’s basement and play video games all day might not know about the real world.

    Just my opinion....

So read your own avatar and quit drooling over mine.

Haha. Yeah, finding a place to live is a very common issue in grading players. Lol

Whoever we get,I want a possession receiver. Not that Mark can't throw the deep ball but last year we got bailed out by big plays because guys weren't consistently open.I wanna move the ball on 1st n 2nd down better so we don't have to worry about 3rd and longs as much.I think Sanchez is pretty good with those short slant routes. At the end of the day,no matter who we acquire on either end of the ball,Brian Schottenheimer is undoubtedly our weakest link.We need guys to mask him with as many people possible.I like Tom Moore coming here.Hopefully he'll influence some roster decisions also.

Personally I think at this point to rush in to a signing would be foolish. The more time Mason takes to make his decision the less likely he is to sign with the Jets, (see Aso). So it's my opinion that is not going to happen.

Not thrilled with any of the available WR's on the market at this point, I think we need to get younger not older and really would like a player who has a chance to be around for a few seasons and jell with Mark.

In that light I would prefer to take a chance on Turner and Kerley and allow them to develop. Let them get the reps thru camp and pre-season and wait out another team willing to take a fifth or sixth round draft choice for a quality Vet not needed by them. Or simplely wait out a team cutting a player who would be willing to come in for a year as a stop gap player
