With the new rookie salary cap. There is no way I would trade a 1st rounder for him. I was thinking 3rd with possible 3rd or 4th following year based on how well he did. But screw that.

I would easily give up a 2nd round pick for Osi.

In all honesty, for a team on the cusp of a championship (and in need of a pass rush), Osi is worth a 1st rounder. That being said..we might just be one of those teams with the wrong system for him.

People who say that a deal like this couldn't happen because the Giants would never trade with us, I don't think that's true.

BTW, no one is giving up a 1st for Osi Umenyiora. Wait for the price to come down and see if they'll take a conditional 3rd (like Cromartie last year).

Sign me up for osi.... young pass rushers dont grow on trees, and we are in desperate need for one. he can certainly play a suggs type role on this team. and if all it costs is a draft pick or two, i think we need to do it.

I think from the standpoint that he'll produce much faster then anybody we'd be getting in that 25-32 slot it's almost worth it in my mind. He's a good player when motivated and I think he'll want to prove something especially playing in New York still. Talk about the ultimate chip on your shoulder.

I agree.... the guy is still just 29 years old and has 32 sacks the past 3 seasons. he is very athletic and would give us a legit pass rusher. certainly a better pass rusher then we'd get in the 25+ range in the draft, and it would likely take that rookie a while ot make an impact.

Osi, would stay in the area, and likely be very motivated and love playing for rex.

id do a first for him in a second.

He's too much of a risk to trade a 1st for. Especially since he's never played in this system. Most Giants fans thought he was done before this season.

Just confirmed on the FAN that Osi most likely has played his last game as a Giant!

Not sure what's meant by this. The stats certainly don't show that he's done. Not even close..

he has been a 4-3 end forever

in are system i assume you would have to OLB

it could work out but converting 4-3 guys to 3-4 rarely works

Could #Jets work a trade for Osi Umenyiora? Source just told me: "No."... #NYJ hasn't expressed interest yet. #NYG

You'd easily give up a 2nd? A little more negotiations, and you could be talked in to giving up a 1st and a 3rd. Glad you're not our GM.

for a conditional 7th round pick that turns into the giants surrendering a second as well if osi farts in the locker room

Don't get excited. There is no chance in hell that the Giants trade him to us. None.

    Thank you!

Why is it then every time a decent 4-3 DE becomes even remotely available we have to start going on about bringing him the Jets. WE DON'T RUN A 4-3!!! This is no small difference. It's like Israelis and Palestinians. Democrats and Republicans. They are completely different systems requiring personnel with different skills. Osi is 4-3 DE. Not a 3-4 DE or OLB. He's never done it and isn't suited to it. I mean, at least Jason Taylor had some experience playing OLB. Osi has none. He's a talented player, but doesn't fit our system. He would just be a waste of money.
