I'm not positive but didn't Osi just hold out/throw some kind of hissy fit, even pretending to be injured so he didn't have to practice last seaon? Wanted big money or something? Maybe I'm thinking of a diff Giant lineman. Any how, we brought that phenom pass rusher in from Miami (name?) yr before last and he led the team in sacks at 45 years old.....and that was after he won dancing with the stars. So maybe if Osi came here for the vet min and played in the 4-3 package in a limited roll he may tear the place up. It's not like we're overloaded with sack masters and maybe he could teach Couples a thing or two.
We have much bigger holes to fill, We are pretty good at the DE spot with Coples and Wilk and we might evendraft Mingo. Fuck this guy he is past his prime, if we didnt have so many other holes to fill id be all for it.And he doesnt fit the scheme we usally run a 3-4 he is a base 4-3
He's not going to take a cheap contract anyway. I'd think about him if I'd drafted Jarvis Jones or Damontre Moore or somebody like that and then also taken somebody like Trevardo Williams in the mid-rounds. If you rely on a 31 year old player with an injury history he's just going to let you down. Age or physical fitness will do him in and you're screwed. If he's overkill though and you have other real options, well that could be really nice because if he actually plays well then you've got a dominant pass rush out of thin-air instead of a couple of rookies trying to find their way without a lot of help.
Osi would be an expensive short-term fix. Draft a pass rusher. If up to par, try to get the player to a team friendly extension eary.
His value definitely went down this year. He's good, but let's be real, he is going to want decent money. I can only really see him coming in handy if we play more 4-3 to be honest. I don't think DE is a need for us that's worthy spending much money on. If he can play OLB and the price is right, then heck. It could be helpful during this transition. We def need to draft at least one OLB, maybe 2.
I agree enough with the old folks. Winners buipd through the draft not take peoples oldcrejects trying to extend thier career. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
The problem with Osi has been his unhappiness with his contract situation for the past 3 years. That right there tells you that this guy is looking to get paid. He sure as hell ain't coming cheap whomever he signs with. Older and looking for one last big money contract. With those two things in mind there's no way he ends up here.
Perfect. Lets bring in another teams trash, again. New York Jets might as well turn itself into a senior citizen center.
Wilkerson has gotten better every year, Coples a rookie got better every week. Maybe we already have our pass rush?
I am all for developing our on guys we need to get younger and start rebuilding. we need to tank the season next year lolol.
Osi is a one trick pony and a malcontent that has aged yet still thinks he's worth more than he is... why would I want that on my team, especially if he doesn't sign for the $$ he wants. He's a headcase with uninspiring play due to contract etc. waiting to happen. PASS.. btw.. If Tuck is really finished as a few people think they will need to keep Osi as a placeholder until they can find a replacement for both. I doubt he goes anywhere unless his agent blows smoke up his ass to make him believe he has one more BIG contract left in him.
probably, there is no qb solution in f.a. or the draft this year. there will be no big f.a. signings and we will have more than a few new starters. i know this is the n.f.l. but good money is on tough year for the jets. i actually hope j.idz dumps the whole slary cap mess into this year so we can start the reclamation project in 2014
Yup Yup Yup, lets spend on a washed up over rated Defensinsive end from the Giants............wow......get real people......what are ya thinking
