It was basically a freak thing. He could have done this in shells in practice, against a sled, or in a scrimmage. It sucks for him, and the giants really lost the foundation to their whole defense. Their secondary is just not good enough without the pressure the front provides.

Ya, 100% agreed. Their defense could become undone, without their strong DL.

Strahan, that gap-toothed fukk, is 'trimming down' for TV, no question. I hope when he gets a job he laughs at Tiki Barber in his loser face. Wait, lest we forget, Strahan also acted like a loser before last season kicked off. Alright, alright, I reckon he can spew Gatorade through that gap in his stupid maw 30 yrds. at Brady's azzhole, but F him. At least a little.

That's terrible news for the Giants and I wish Osi would have been ok. I hate the giants but he's a fun player to watch.

I hate seeing any player get hurt in preseason. I feel bad for all the Giants fans. He is a dominant player. This is a tremendous loss.

I guess the big option is moving Kiwi back to DE. It also has long term ramifications. Osi planned to hold out next year, and that leverage took a hit because of this injury. Now if Kiwi has a good to pro bowl year, then Osi's leverage, again, takes a kick in the nuts. So this actually has a potentially of working out. Plus we finally get to see Kiwi back at DE, where he showed good potential his rookie year.

This really sucks for everyone involved with the Giants and hope the guy re-coups.

Ironically, I was playing my Franchise mode Pre-Season game on Madden with the Jets on Friday evening against the Giants. During the game, Osi tore something in his ankle and was out for the season. I told my buddy about it Saturday afternoon, and we laughed about it saying, "Imagine if that happened in real life". The rest is pretty much history.

Like I said in the game thread, I really like the way Osi plays. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Clearly your Madden is an instrument of the devil, and you must have an exorcism if you want to keep playing it.

I feel for Osi and the Giant fans but hopefully this is some sort of omen for us as the last time the Giants lost a rising young defensive star w/ a knee injury in an exhibition game against us it was 1998. I hope we play like it's 98 and I hope Osi's career doesn't fall the way Sehorn's did.

Could also say we had good years in 1968, 1988, 1998 which makes us due now too (sort of).

1978 was good for that era, we were in contention until Week 15 at Cleveland.

Since Favre was on the field for that play, did the Madden jinx then transfer to Osi? I'm not a gamer, I don't know how that works.

Strahan and the Giants are now officially talking. I expect he will be signed by tomorrow.

"Ex-New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and his former team have begun talks about a possible return in the wake of Osi Umenyiora's season-ending knee injury, the New York Daily News reported Monday, citing an unnamed source.

A team official called and talked to Strahan, 36, who retired in the offseason after helping lead the Giants to a Super Bowl championship, a source close to the seven-time Pro Bowler told the paper."
