He has never been used primarily as a passrusher. Not fair to assess his entire game based on that stat, although its common knowledge he struggles to push the pocket.
Good point. It could also be that someone else had made an offer and he let the Jets know he was going to have to sign it if they weren't going to sign him.
Pace will probably start with Barnes as a situational pass rusher and hopefully we draft our second starter in the draft.
umm..next to him, not over him. Or to be more precise on the opposite side from him and you need two OLBs in a 3-4 unless you think the Jets will go to a 4-3 this year and if they don't who do they have to start over him?
Good solid signing. Still can play the run pretty well. He'll be used as depth and on running downs most likely. I'm sure we are drafting a LB in one of the first 2 rounds.
Barnes will rotate with Mingo if we draft him, and Pace will play the other side with Mcntyrie or a draft pick
Decent signing and he should mentor the young guys and make the transition smooth for whatever young OLB we draft.
Just two months ago our LB group was, Harris, Davis and McIntyre, now it's those three with Barnes and Pace, not to shabby.
unless he got the vet minimum, he is over-paid. rather take my chances with a draft pick, who is younger, cheaper, and faster.
Pace has always been a solid player, just way overpaid. I will definitely be happy to see him on the field. It also allows whatever OLB (if we draft one) to just focus on being a situational pass rusher (Dion Jordan is exception). It is a much easier way to break into the league. It makes guys like Mingo (late first from trade back) and even Ansah options. of course, I would still rather Jarvis Jones. Don't know why people don't see Pace as a starter. He can certainly set the edge.
