Sanchez will be starting, the Jets will sign a vet QB to back him up, and the Jets will grant Kellen his release which he will ask for.
I don't know what that means.. Flacco only started because Troy Smith got sick. If it's an open competition I think Clemens will start.
I'll explain... hmm, not enough time, I'll summup. Ryan saw what Flacco did last year. Flacco estalished a model which Ryan will study and say... huh... a rookie QB with a good OL and running game, and moderate WR and a dymanic TE can be successful. Especially if he shows moxie and the team responds to him. Smith getting sick was certainly unfortunate for him... but as it goes in another thread, the NFL is a business... Make sense?
Let the kid develop in the NFL. He's not going into a disastrous situation which has usually caused rookie QBs in the past to bust.
Sanchez need to marinate on the beach for a year at lease. We need to let Clemens show us what he got.
He had 4 full years in a pro system, that's how. Sanchez may not start week 1 but he will by week 5. They won't waste a lot of time getting him in there.
Sanchez obviously, this is a easy one.. Comeon he is not even competing with a proven veteran guy.. He's competing with a guy with no experience as well.. Add to the fact Ryan saw Baltimore win with a rookie qb
Sanchez needs to sit for atleast a season learn the system better and get a year in of the NFL and then give him his shot. Unless Clemens does a good job which he might.
I would love to see Sanchez sit the bench and learn but in the life of an NFL player that does not happen to much anymore. I will give you 70 million ( dollars ) reasons why Sanchez will start next year.
Its going to be Sanchez GOTTA SELL THOSE TICKETS! But i believe Sanchez will win the competition. Just run the ball.
Would Sanchez be ruined if we start him right away? We have a good offensive line and running game as well as a defense that will probably get better. Sure the NFL is much faster than the college game but it isn't like we are going to ask him to throw it 40 times a game, the main reason that rookie QBs are getting better nowadays is that he isn't alone out there like what happened with Peyton Manning, David Carr or Troy Aikman. I think he will get a legit shot of beating out Clemens for the job and should be alright whether it is this year or next.
The only way Sanchez doesn't start is by not learning the play book and looking clueless out there during pre-season, which I don't see happening. They said he learned a mini play book in two days before the FO & CS drilled him on it.
yep. Brees was a 2nd rd pick that basically sucked his 1st few years (got benched in favor of Flutie) Then Rivers gets drafted #4 overall, and Brees suddenly became good. I say Kellen should start for that reason, and for Sanchez to adjust to the game a bit. If Kellen stinks, Sanchez comes in halfway through (like Eli did) POtentially protects 2 investments. If Clemens does well, franchise and trade him.
