I agree. You need to let Mims and Permian run slants. We just throw fades or out. We don’t ever attack the middle or deep middle. granted it was Mims first game but that 1 on 1 in the endzone white didn’t even let him run lol. He’s got work to do. He’s a nice possession wr but limited with his sport
Yes,the rules today make it illegal to play the Safety position-- I'm not sure about Gase's offense of the future, but the correct offense for today's NFL is to pass the football at the middle of the field.
I called my dad to ask about the game... "I'm sure they lost but how did Sam look?" "He looked great in the first then like shit in the 2nd half...."
You can (should) only draft a QB the following year if there is a really topnotch QB prospect. There isn't every year, but there are certainly two, maybe three topnotch QB prospects in 2021 (Lawrence and Fields, and maybe Lance). To pass on one of those and "hope" that there is a topnotch QB prospect and that we'd be in position to draft him or be able to trade up is stretching the bounds of reality. That's the mistake that Mac made in passing on Mahomes and Watson in 2017, and then having to trade up to take a QB in 2018. Mahomes and Watson were sitting there for the taking and were much better prospects imo than either Sam or Mayfield. Not just any QB will do. Barring a total collapse by or career-threatening injury to both Lawrence and Fields, if Douglas passes on both or them he should be fired on the spot and not even allowed to finish the draft. Sam has already proven that he sucks. Going with Sam one more year would be wasting another year, and blowing the opportunity to get a great QB.
C'mon Cman, you're better than this. There is no "we" in terms of drafting. The Jets have a new GM. Douglas doesn't suck at drafting, or at least hasn't proven to yet. It's too soon to tell for certain, but it looks as though he will be quite good at it. His first pick looks like a certain Pro Bowl LT as does his 6th round punter. Mims and Perine look like they will help as well. We haven't seen Zuniga, Clark or Morgan yet, and the jury is still out on Davis. He handled the draft well, didn't panic, and traded down acquiring additional picks. He's loaded up on picks for the next two drafts, so certainly looks like he knows what he's doing in terms of talent evaluation and handling the GM position.
Nailed it! It should be clear at this point that while the OL still needs work, the skill positions are in dire straits thanks to over a decade of completely ignoring them. I truly hope Douglas knows this and addresses it with this upcoming off season or I'm just done.
You don;t need to tip your plays when your play calling is so predictable, and no adjustments are ever made. These are hallmarks of a Gase "genius" oiffense.
I haven't tossed around a football with friends in years. And I guarantee you that even I could get at least 5 yards of total offense under Center during a 2nd half. Sam must go.
Brutal, but oddly enough I wouldn’t mind watching those games. Still a pathetic effort by the Jets nonetheless. Guys have tripped over their own feet and gained 4 yards with their own forward momentum.
