Woody has no attachment to Gase, he wasn't here when he got hired. Chris may somehow still like Gase but even he can't be stubborn and deny reality forever. How many coaches other than Hue Jackson survive 1-15 (and that didn't exactly pay off either)? The fact Gase is coaching the second half of this dumpster fire of a season means absolutely nothing in terms of whether he's employed next year.
What else was Douglas supposed to do to facilitate losing? He could have not signed Joe Flacco and just brought in a worse vet to be the backup but it's not like that's what bit us on Sunday. Other than that what? He got rid of every other vet that isn't nailed to the floor as fast as he could find tickets for them out of dodge.
It probably would've taken being on the same page as the coach regarding trying to lose, so maybe not possible with the Jets' GM/HC power structure.
What about them? You claimed "all indications" are that Gase will be here next season. Do you have anything at all to support your claim?
