You make excuses for every bad play/decision he makes. If you gave the facts you would mention how that ball to keith was a tough catch and how the ball to Wayne, while a nice throw, was a difficult catch but you don't. So when do you criticize Manning for putting up an average of under 14 in their playoff losses? The pass to keith was outside and hard, it made him have to stretch out for it. It could have been caught but it was not an easy catch. and how was it not a bad decision to throw that ball to Wayne? The chances of a catch are remote, he gave away another down w/ the :30 secs he gave away the previous couple of plays. Some games 14 pts is enough, some games it's not. In that game their supposed great D was given a 4 pt lead in the final 2.5 mins. That was enough that day bit their D blew it like they tried to in their first 2 SB wins but in those games Brady had enough time to rescue them- this game he didn't.
You can say it until you are blue in the face but Keith SHOULD have caught that ball and it wasn't a difficult catch to make. When you are in the game you need to execute. Manning got the ball to him and he should have made the catch. You are the only person saying otherwise and you are saying that because you have an agenda. It wasn't a bad decision to throw the ball to Wayne. He got it to him. Wayne didn't maintain control when he was hit. How is that Manning's fault. He got it to Wayne, but McCree hit him hard and it jarred the ball loose. Go watch the highlights again and tell me where else he was supposed to go with the ball on that play. Their supposed great D allowed only 17 points all game long. Brady didn't get them in position to score more than 17 which is pathetic considering they scored more than 30 per game all year long. You blaming the D doesn't get Brady off the hook for his miserable failure all game long.
No matter what you say it's clear as day looking at the clip it was a difficult catch. AGAIN, it wasn't a terrible pass but it wasn't a good one either and he deserves his share of the blame for that play but according to you he goes blameless whenever something goes wrong. It's Manning's fault b/c he had such a small window btw the defenders, it's an extremely diffiuclt pass to complete and he have up another down and as it turned out had to waste their last TO b/c of the injury. Brady should have led NE to more points but even in a game where he was harrassed all game long like I have never seen before he picked himself up and w/ the SUPER BOWL on the line he led his team 80s yds for the go ahead TD w/ 2.5 mins to play. AGAIN, why do you contiinue to pick on Brady for that game yet ignore the EIGHT playoff losses where Peyton led his high powere Offenses to LESS than 14 PPG. WHEN WILL YOU ADDRESS THIS???????????
It was a catchable pass and SHOULD have been caught. He had sucha small window between two defenders and he fit it in. It didn't get deflected or picked off, it went right into Wayne's hands. How he "gave up another down" is beyond me. He put it right into Wayne's hands. Please tell me where he should have went with the ball (go back and watch the highlight video again). Yes, Brady SHOULD HAVE LED NE TO MORE POINTS. But he DIDN'T. Period. And by leading please give the credit to who it deserves. Wes Welker is the reason they marched down the field. And if you've never seen a QB get harrassed all game long like Brady did, then you've watched less football than I have been giving you credit for. Yes, he was under a lot off pressure, but the Bears defenses of the 80's thrived on putting the pressure on the QB. Same with the Bucs of the00's and the Eagles of the early 90's and the Saints of the late 80's early 90's and The Ravens etc. etc. etc. Or was that just another junc exaggeration? I've never given a lame excuse for those games that they should have won but didn't becuase the defense gave up 17 points like you've done for Brady. They (the Colts offense) didn't get the job done. But maybe I should be like you and blame the defense for allowing 17 points.
Could have been caught NOT should have been caught. He did fit it in but the receiver was crushed when he tried to hold on, it was a near impossible play. A risk you can't take on 3rd down in that situation. He bounced back from the intense pressure he faced all game long and when the chips were down he marched his team 80 yds- when has Peyon ever done that in a playoff loss? Games are 60 mins long, they all don't play out the same way. When the game is on the line the big time guys step up and make big plays. The Pats D played a great game against an average O but when the game was on the line they blew it. In SB XXXVI they played a great game for 3 qtrs against a great O but when the game was on the line they blew it. Please go through all 8 Manning postseason losses and tell me why the team lost and how peyton wasn't one of the main reasons.
Not could have it SHOULD have been caught. It hit him in the hands and was not a rocket. When you need to make split second decisions and see a reciever open you have to make the throw. He did and the result didn't work out the way it could have. Had Wayne caught the ball they would have likely rushed to the LOS and spiked the ball w/ about 40 seconds left and one TO inside SD territory. That's a throw that needed to be made. I know you like dink and dunkers, but that was not a situation where you could dink and dunk your way for a TD. You neglected to mention that he dinked and dunked to Welker who marched them down the field. I wonder why? I guess it doesn't say that in the play by play sheet. They only gave up 17 points against one of the best offenses all time. Your claim that they blew it is ridiculous. Sure, but I never claimed Peyton doesn't hold some responsibility. I just don't claim him to be soely responsible like you.
He was FIVE yards away from him, he threw it too hard and not accurately so the seldom used RB had to adjust for it. You have to make plays in that situation, no excuses. If he catches it then it's a GREAT play but he didn't and 99 out of 100 times a WR will not be able to make that catch- was it a worthy risk? I don't think so. WHO CARES if he dinked and dunked? he took what the D gave them, maybe if manning dinked and dunked he would have led them to the win against SD. Why does Brady get penalized for leading his team to points in big spots? They were leading 17-3 in the 4th qtr w/ 10 mins to play and they gave up 2 TDs to allow SL to tie them. They played great for almost 3 qtrs but nearly blew until Brady rescued them. I don't claim Peyton is solely responsible, I say over and over that he is most responsible b/c he is.
Let's bring it back to the Jets. What if Parcells had given the Mannings his word he'd take him w/ the 1st pick in '97? Peyton would have come out and he'd be a Jet but his career probably would have ended about 5-6 years ago from some horrific injury.
He did NOT throw it too hard! He didn’t even cock his arm back because he had to pump quickly because Keith did not turn around fast enough. You think that a flick of the wrist by Manning causes the ball to be thrown too hard? You’re wrong on this pass. You’re only hanging onto the “Manning threw it too hard” because you were caught not knowing what you were talking about. One INT in that game was on Manning and ONE is on Keith. He was open downfield. Peyton got the ball to him. 99 times out of 100? Another junc exaggeration. I’ve seen Wayne get hit harder and hold onto the ball. It was a good hit by McCree. Give credit to who deserves it. Welker not Brady. St. Louis had one of the best offenses in football history and they held them to 17 points. Do you actually think it’s possible that they could be stopped completely? It’s highly unlikely. And if the Defense doesn’t score a TD off an INT the Pats don’t win that SB. So GIVE THEM THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE. Ty Law rescued the Pats with his INT return for a TD. Where’s your acknowledgment of that? No, you put it ALL on Manning, just like you put ALL of NE’s success on Brady. Neither of which is true
He wasn't allowed to do that, but you may be right. I do salavate at the thought of Manning to Keyshawn though
I'm not going to rehash everything again but: I do NOT give ALL the credit to Brady but he deserves more than anyone else and I do not give ALL the blame to peyton but he deserves most of it. It would have been fun. What if BB doesn't walk out on us? Does he have the same staff as NE which leads him to take Brady for us? It's depressing thinking about it.
Well I'm just going to end with, you have a funny way of showing it because I never see you mention Ty Law's INT TD, or Marvin Harrison's fumble. It's always Brady rescued them or Peyton threw 2 INTs (one of which wasn't his fault)
The NE D played great in SB XXXVI for nearly 3 qtrs but w/ the SB on the line they melted and were rescued by an all-time great drive in the history of the NFL.
In a last minute drive in the 4th quarter, I'm taking Tom Brady every time. Every single time. The guy has usually had a better defense, yes, but has also usually had significantly fewer offensive weapons (before moss got here) and has led countless game-winning drives. Way more memorable, CLUTCH game-winning drives than Peyton. They are both the two best qbs of this era, but imo I'll take Brady in the clutch. Now let's end this conversation lol.
Then the reason the drive was "all time great" was because the kicker bailed the team out by hitting a very difficult FG.
btw - I think the drive was a good one, but it wasn't ALL because of Brady. That drive was successful on the legs of Redmond and Troy Brown. Brady's throw to Brown was good, but Brown made the play by running up field and getting out of bounds. If Brown gets tackled in play they do not get in position to kcik the FG
And to further my point...the one you keep missing, is that they are not even in that game if Ty Law doesn't intercept Kurt Warner and return it for a TD
