I was actually thinking about what the requirement will be for a Playoff berth. You figure 3 Division Champs and locks will be Indy, Denver, New England. The AFC North is a toss-up and any one of Pitt, Cincy, Balt can win that Division, with another one of them getting the Wildcard. That's 5 teams right there. So, one spot left among: the Jets, Houston, and San Diego. Won't be easy.
#1 Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). #2 Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Seems to me the division record is #2 conference record is #4
We are more than capable of beating the colts. They can't run and their run defense is terrible. We can shut down the pass and we can run the ball, we can beat that team. With this D, were more than capable of beating every team on the schedule. The rest of this season largely depends on how sanchez performs. Were unlikely to see the D and special teams stink it up like they did Miami in the first and second games, respectively.
Again, that only applies to two teams tied within the SAME division. If the two tied teams are from DIFFERENT divisions, then #2 becomes conference record and division records are thrown out.
No. Come that Saturday before our Week 17 game, we're most likely going to relying on at least one team to lose for us to get in.
By going 8-0 for the remaining games will sneak us into the playoffs, most possibly with a no. 1-4 seed. I say fuck the complex tie-brakers and make it happen.
Well the wouldn't the Ravens be in the mix if they don't win the division. It's gonna be like us and 4-5 other teams fighting for a spot. Also, it's still too early to tell.
If we win out, we will reach the playoffs. I know there could be scenario where we can be left out at a 12-4 record, but I would say that is highly improbable.
of Course backing into the playoffs take place in the NFL, but we are not talking about NHL or NBA where 1/2 the teams in the league make it, making the playoffs in the NFL is an accomplishment no matter how it happens.
I agree we are in store for a big run, rather have gone into the bye with an exciting last minute victory. Didn't happen but still think we take enough positives out of the first 1/2 to go on big run in second 1/2
there is no sneaking into the play-offs.you either have enough wins to qualify or you don't.what are we gonna do dress up like the colts to get by security, then change into the green uni's.
Im down for this. We couldve won any of the games that we lost this year, including new orleans. No game was completely out of our grasp, weve always looked like a good team every game, just part of the team failed to show up in a particular game. I say we go 7-1 for the rest of the stretch. It cant hurt to be optmistic, what the worst that could happen? Ill be let down and disappointed by the jets? Been there, done that.
Yea, lets just fucking get it done. No nonsense. However, if we lose to jacksonville i give up. But until that happens (it wont) im pulling for 8-0, 7-1 at worst.
I understand that, but the title of the thread is "One thing that might sneak us into the playoffs." I'm saying what you're saying... I don't want to "sneak" in, I want us to win out and get it that way.
Playoffs? Did somebody just mention p-p-p-p-playoffs? PLAYOFFS? Don't talk to me about PLAYOFFS! PLAYOFFS? LOL
