So dude do you think the Defense was terrible? It was solid. Definitely can improve in the pressuring the QB area. This is really the first off season for Bowles and Mac to really focus on overhauling the LB area and outside pressure.
Revis biggest trump card that got him paid all these years was that he was WORTH IT...well he isn't worth his contract...can we survive long-term with the money we are paying him? He was scared shitless of Watkins...he seemed more concerned with his reputation (not getting burned) than making a stop... Let me go to bed...EAT (Timezone)...gotta get up early and make some money...maybe its coz am older and we we won 10 games their are worse things in life...lets see what the offseason has to offer... Will watch the playoffs if I'm not committed...expect a Cardinals/Pitt SB...with the Cards taking it...Payback.. I cant believe we lost to Rex TWICE!!!!!
Revis is going to get all kinds of bad press-- but I really blame the defensive play calling. There is no way he should have been playing that far off ALL GAME and making NO ADJUSTMENT whatsoever. I'm sure I'd look bad at my job if my boss didn't let me do it properly, too.
Do you really think Revis would be playing that far off if he felt being up at the line was better? This narrative that Revis wanted to play up and was being forced to play back is ridiculous..
For what seems to be eons...... the jets defense has been very good at times, but also invisible at times. Many of those disappearing acts have some at very crucial times in very important games. Drafts go by, free agency goes by, and year after year the D lives by its defensive line and CB play. The LB position has been an afterthought and IMO that's been the #1 mistake over the years. The unit lacks perimeter and closing speed. It makes such a difference when the offense has to account for a stud OLB as opposed to a stud DT or even a stud CB. Why? Well u can move the LB around - much easier then moving a DT or CB. That's what gets ur defense off the field and forces turnovers.
There should be no issue with revis..... he is coming back down to earth and it should be expected. The draft whiffs of Kyle Wilson and milliner forced the jets into a small pickle so they really needed to sign him last year. I think we can all live with a declining revis, as long as its gradual and not abrupt.
It's really been the same thing for years...the Jets D is good but not elite. I was most disappointed in the the lack of pass rush this year. And tbh wasn't all that impressed with Bowles as a coach.
What I never want to hear again is that "Rex is a clown". Because, today against the Bills, Rex out-coached us plain and simple (for the 2nd time this season no less!). So the Rex-haters lost. They were proven wrong this season. And oh btw, if Bowles looked like Rex, people would be calling him the clown after this disaster of a game! ....and oh yeah, our defense this year, on paper, was the most talented in the league. Nobody can seriously question that. If Rex had this D to work with in NY, we'd have our SB championship by now. #SadButTrue (especially if he also had Gailey, Marshall, and Fitzmagic).
Ridiculous thread. If the OP doesn't think this is a good defense, I suggest he watch some of the other 15 games. Every single rule in the book is designed to help the offense score points. This defense overcomes those rules much better than most defenses in the league. They played a bad game today. Couldn't get off the field. Allowed 11-22 on 3rd and 4th down. But playing a bad game today does not equal "can't play". This fan base is comical at times.
Let me say this nice and slow... Fuck Rex Ryan.. He won today but he still has NOTHING on his resume that says he'll ever win the SB. Since today was his SB, I hope the NY media blows him all week. Since you like Rex so much, you're more than welcome to go join him up in Buffalo. #RexRyanFanboy
Rex is still Rex. At the beginning of the year Buffalo was supposed to absolutely blow our and the league doors off. We were supposed to be last place dwelling afterthoughts. He did his Rex thing and got his team up to play the games he felt were important to him. That's the same thing he did with us, nothing has changed. He got his vindication win and the Bills fans got to get their we're better than 8-8 and feels on. Now the real fun begins up there as he helps screw the roster over and they end up in the same place we were/are 3-4 years down the line. If something other than that happens I'll have to say I was wrong. Until then my opinion, and probably yours, will hold in place. Yea our defense wasn't the most talented in the league. Our LB's are old and slow and we have a line that was built to stop the run rather than generate a pass rush without Blitzing. Buffalo was alleged to be the most talented. Anyway, they took steps in the right direction, just not enough. Here's to next year.
More than anything, the time of possession is a reflection of the Jets inability and reluctance to establish a running game.
Non-existent. Watkins should have been doubled the entire game and I don't recall he ever was at any point. Our LB core is unbearably slow. It's a shame because they can stuff the run but the minute a guy is open in the middle of the field a reception is made for an easy 6 yard+ gain.
Agreed. But I put blame on TO for not adjusting to double team Sammy. Revis had no help. We were horrible on 3rd and 4th downs
You quoted my post, but didn't seem to add anything to it. Does that mean you agree with it completely? ....I'll add one more thing: Rex Ryan will get to a SB with the Bills before we do. #SadButTrue (and he'll continue to be a thorn in our side along the way)
Rex is a clown. . A toe-sucking, Sanchez-tattooed chick-fucking clown. How stupid is this post? Let me count the ways.. - Quigley (arguably the NFL's worst punter, immediately puts his team in the hole and single-handedly costed his team points). - Fitz threw an ill-advised pick (sacrificing a sure 3 points and possible 7). - Gailey needlessly called forced passes into the EZ leading to the Fitz pick. - which would've given the Jets a 20-19 lead. - Bullock left another 3 points to the right of the right upright. - Richardson with a stupid encroachment penalty on 4th down??…which eventually led to??…. The defense sucked, the offense wasn't any great shakes, and even then, the Jets could've very well won this game had they not shot themselves repeatedy in the foot. And "oh yeah," if you think this defense is as talented as the Seattle Seahawks, then you don't know a bloody thing about football. "Nobody can seriously question that" <---- excuse me but exactly who the hell are you? …and who the hell do you think you're kidding?
Reluctance to establish a running game? ROFLMAO!!! Do you hear how absurd you are? You DO realize that Ivory was banged up, Powell was out, and Ridley is still shaking off rust, and may not be that good any more, don't you? With whom were they going to establish this running game?
