I think there's a very good chance the Jaguars take Floyd on the 7 if a trade down does not materialize for them. They really need a #1 WR and Floyd is one of the two guys in this draft that you can project to catch 60 passes and 10 TD's next year. The other guy is going to be off the board at 6. If Floyd didn't have the character concerns I think he'd go before Blackmon.
This does look like a great draft to reload at LB. Ingram - OLB/ILB, Upshaw - OLB/ILB, Hightower - ILB/OLB, Branch - OLB, McLellin - OLB, Lewis - ILB, Curry - OLB. That's a lot of big backers sitting out there with round 3 or better grades. Then you have Kuechly soaking a pick up in the top 12 or so at LB and you have Coples soaking up a pass rush pick fairly early. In the 20's you have Perry and Mercilus soaking up pass rush/OLB picks. You have David and Brown sitting there for the 4-3's in round 2 and then you have Irvin soaking up a pick in round 3. If the Jets really wanted to reload with a couple of good prospects at LB this is the draft to do it in.
Floyd right now is my #1 choice. Fills a need, value at 16, fits the scheme. Can get a pass rusher/o-line/safety later on.
setting aside the floyd issues altogether. The Texans are supposedly enamored with Coby Fleener. They won't be trading up for anybody if thats really the case. Also if the Jets wanted to trade down, Floyd is one of the guys that would draw interest allowing them to do just that.
i agree id make the deal and go perry/mcclellan/upshaw with the first, randle/jeffrey with the former second rounder, and BPA of the tackles/safeties with the latter second i would be happy with floyd, i just dont think hes better than a combo of, say, perry and randle
26 is a little to far to drop down. Jets need impact players right now and I've seen Tannenbaum trade up a lot but hardly down if ever. The last 2 years the Jets have been at the end of the 1st round and now we need to take advantage of our location because next year I hope we are right back at the end of the round hopefully picking 32.
