He wouldn't be a free safety. He'd take over for Eric Smith's sorry ass and cover tight ends and help out in run support.

DeAndre McDaniel had 8 INTs last year and 4 so far this season. He makes more plays than you seem to think.

Yeah... I guess I read to much bad stuff about him on some draft sites... looking at that vid made me want to see him in a Jets uni...

I haven't watched any clemson game this year so I was trusting what I read on other sites about him taking a huge step back...

Great is kind of subjective, I should've have chosen better words than " light up ".

I could see him running a 4.45 which would be very good.

I think he'll run in the 4.5s or 4.6s. He seems more quick than fast.

He's kind of like a Polamalu type player - converted linebacker that has great range and game speed.

Even with his combine numbers he'll put up and his athleticism I still believe theres a chance he'll be around in the mid 2nd due to other teams having higher needs then a safety. We really should do what we can to trade up a bit if he's there and pick him up. Maybe trade next years 2nd along with this years 3rd or 4th idk. 1st rd is obviously 3-4 DE/OLB whichever is there and then BPA which could be McDaniel. Him and KDub in our secondary along with Revis for the next 5 years would be incredible.

If Leonhard's injury is a compound break or more this could be moved up to #1

...not if we sign Rex's boy Dawan Landry.

I thought Safety was a priority before the Leonhard injury....it certainly IS now, imo.

No question the postion will need to be addressed in the offseason.

If Leonhard's injury is very severe, a Vet suggested by MR E, would be a good option.

Adding some depth in a later Rd in the draft would be a wise move too.

Why? Unless he had a Leon type injury you don't miss many months for a broken bone!

Maybe this will get the Jet's staff looking closer at our safety status.

Leonhard is a decent player, but IMO slightly overrated by most Jet fans.

Injury or not, it needs to be addressed!!

I'm with Electric....D.Landry is a strong possibility and an excellent choice.....notwithstanding his injury history of course.

Agree as usual... just wanted to say I'm 99% sure this injury won't carry over to next season and shouldn't be THE reason S is moved up our draft board.

That said if this incourages the Jets to draft a safety I'm all for it :)

    Compound was Leon's injury.

It's all going to be based on what Tanny and Rex accomplish in Free Agency and who's availabe in late Rd 1.

IMO, I'd love for us to trade down into mid 2 and pick up a Safety and and add a few picks.

Round 2 is going to be a great round to get a good safety

Bute Leon's was both bones (tibia and fibula?) and the bone came out of the skin (which means possible tissue damage).

I can't imagine how a S would get something like that just dueling with a WR...

To me it's prob just a broken tibia.

    Patrick Turner's big, Leonhard's little.

Freak injuries happen, we just don't know yet.

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but you're absolutely right. I love the guy for his leadership ability/knowledge of the D, but he's got some limitations that we can't ignore.

Any chance we could get Landry in here and ready for New England this week?
