I think FS is a 1st/2nd round priority. I love Deunta Williams/Rahim Moore and still like McDaniel, despite his struggles.

We need more like a DE rather than an OLB in the first round. I was thinking a DT in the second round. We don't have a draft pick in the third. We need a pass rushing, 3-4 DE. Nick Fairley, JJ Watt, or Akeem Ayers sounds good to me.

A question that we should all be asking is how the NFLPA will argue the status of RFAs, because if I'm not mistaken Santonio, Braylon, and Cromartie may all end up as Restricted Free Agents after the year. That could be a serious asset for the Jets in terms of adding picks, but it all depends on the CBA.[/QUOTE]

What do you think we could get if that happened?

Trading Braylon after a good playoff run, and a good season for him(fewer drops), perhaps a 2nd rounder?

We can only tag one of the, but can we still trade one of the others?

Akeem Ayers is not a 3-4 DE. I tried to explain this to you already.

I'm pretty sure if they're restricted free agents and a team signs them, the Jets would get a pick depending on what that player was tendered.

The way I see it Cromartie will be re signed , and whichever WR does better down the stretch will get either a 1st and a 3rd or 1st round tender, unless there really desperate for a pick and put a 2 nd but I honestly doubt it

This team will never need a "pass rushing, 3-4 DE"

Apparently this guy thinks Jeremy Beal is a pass rushing, 3-4 DE.

If they are all eligible as RFAs, then all three will be tendered at the highest level, just no reason no to. If a player is tendered at a certain value they can still be traded for anything.

I agree, that we will resign Cro. You think there would be any bidders with a 1st round tender on BE or Holmes?

The idea of getting an extra 1st or maybe a high 2nd would be crazy. The chance of getting 3 great picks is tempting. (Beal, Powe and a 3-4DE)

The defense doesn't need many pieces to get better.

The offense needs to stay strong because Sanchez needs weapons to throw to. I want a contender for a long time.

The Jets can keep everyone, not be major players in the offseason in terms of free agency, and if they have a strong draft where 2 players become talented starters on defense - this team will be set to contend for a long time.

If the Jets can pull two top 3 rd picks for two of the big three FAs then they'll be in a VERY good position in this draft.

Four picks in the top 3 Rds: OLB, DE, S, WR in some order. The rest of the way CB, NT, OL, RB/ILB. Sign me up.

Better hope that they don't have a salary cap.

We are practically guaranteed to get some form of value from our big 3 RFAs (Harris, Cromartie, Holmes). The distinction between Edwards being an UFA and Holmes being a RFA is an important one. Most people consider Holmes to be the better receiver anyway, but since he's going to be a RFA he'll be much easier to re-sign than Edwards who (unless franchised) will be free to sign with whoever he wants.

In my mind Edwards gets the franchise tag. David Harris should be resigned unless the cost is obscene.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if Harris, Holmes and Cro are all RFA's their 1 year salary will be greatly reduced over a long term deal. So of all the guys I listed as "returning" only one guy would see a significant amount of money, which is Edwards.

The other RFA's would receive low round tenders and the ERFA's would be very cheap bring backs.

Ellis, Hunter and Weatherford would all be brought back cheap, most likely at backup salaries. Ellis would probably get a 1 year 2.5 million dollar deal.

obviously once a cba is signed and we will know exactly how to proceed with the retention of our players.

If we don't have a CBA signed by March, does that mean FA doesn't take place? Or do we continue under the rules of the past season, aka with the extra year of RFA. Or does FA not take place until a new CBA exists? Also do players get paid if their is no season next season? Since we know Revis is on a 4 year deal, with 3 remaining after this season, would his deal decrease to two years remaining (at the start of 2012) even if there is no football in 2011?

I don't think a team has ever tried to sign a max tendered player so Harris, Cromartie, and Holmes are practically guaranteed to be on the roster next season. This could all change though depending on the new CBA.
