im just glad that there seems to be a faction of journalists fighting hard to bring integrity back into the profession manish is not the first to be called out, and he wont be the last, but goddamnit am i happy that there are people in the media finally putting public attention onto this stream of bullshit edit: this doesnt only apply to sports writers, journalism has been in the toilet lately and its truly sad when the comedians on the daily show have more journalistic integrity and operate with better sourcing than the news media does
Admittedly, Mehta is so bad that even Cimini takes not so veiled shots at him (along with public pokes at his pal Jane who can barely write) which accidentally have appeared for the masses to view as he is twitter challenged. But there is no excuse for threatened violence against the press.
I would bet most Jet fans don't even know who Mehta is. It's not like the people who post on a fan message board are representative of who roots for a whole team. I worry more about how badly the fans will get on the team if they march Mark Sanchez back out at home and he has another abysmal season. The scene at halftime of the thanksgiving game had much more potential for violence than anything Manish or Cimini manages to hack out.
Fozzi and Kurt responses were right on the money. Could not agree with them more. I further disagree with the implications that we are fielding a crappy team thus the reason for clowns like Metha and Cimini to rant and rave. Our team is young, inexperienced in many spots and undergoing significant restructuring under the new GM. A GM that just took over a team that has not played a season game yet. BUT THERE ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO BE COMPETITIVE AND EXCITING. But that doesn't deter all the negativity, criticism and pessimism from the media and some fans alike. Idzick intends to build the team from the ground up. THAT TAKES TIME. I am amazed that people just don't grasp this concept and they condone an imbecile writing for a tabloid whose only mission is to sell papers through controversy with no facts to back anything up. We need to stay focused on those that present an honest picture of the Jets health with positional analysis, facts and figures and ignore these clowns. I sure don't condone someone harming them physically, but I sure condone someone destroying them with the pen and facts, forcing them to loose their jobs and replace them by true journalists.
Well said, but it's not happening. In today's day and age, Manish and Cimini are making a name for themselves by being shitty reporters. When they surmise/make up these outrageous stories, that garbage gets picked up by other media outlets who attribute it to them, and gets them national media attention. They are then considered the "experts" on all things Jets, and get spots on ESPN, NFL Network etc. even though they haven't honestly reported a goddamn thing.
Not sure what your laws are in the US, but here in the UK anyone now writing threatening or libellous posts/tweets can be in deep do-do. We have had a number of high profile cases go to court and idiot tweeters get serious fines.
Its what sells papers. No one wants to read about good stuff, and they'll always be someone who will read or listen to these people.

If Mehta were to catch an assbeating I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it. It's obviously a situation were there is a genuine disdain for this man due to his gross lack of professionalism. It's very callous to lack empathy for someones possible physical suffering but barring major trauma, I believe a good asskicking might actually do this scumbag some good. He obviously doesnt care about the negative ramifications created by his sleazy journalism or the effect it could possibly have on people's careers or families. This man Is a piece of shit. I don't need an education on how I should view Mehta or any other scumbag. To many people grow up running their mouths without consequence, I'd be happy as hell to see Rex lay this little prick out. There is really no place to post this, and because it doesn't justify its own thread, I'll post it here. I haven't watched ESPN for football in a long time, and I swore off committing myself to NFLN a while ago. Aside from internet sites, my only real exposure to sports media is the non-ESPN affiliate radio station we have in town, which is usually dedicated to local stuff. They talk and make fun of the Cowboys, talk about Texas A&M and UT and sometimes even the Horned Frogs. Many times, they talk about local high school teams. It's kind of refreshing, actually. But in the past 2 days, I have heard multiple times about how: The Jets cut Braylon and McNugget and How the Jets QB situation will be decided by Rex (per NYDN) What the fuck? Don't get me wrong, I like Jets news, but... what the fuck? At some point, you have to wonder if the Jets are being completely assassinated nationwide. This makes no sense to me. These guys hardly report news about the rivals of the teams they cover.
