I’m sure he’s had a ton of opportunity to discuss with Darnold about this. It wasn’t like the context was after the initial viewing and talking to Darnold himself.
Well produced series. But let's not forget it's an "in house" production. It will be all unicorns & rainbows. All the grit & grime stuff will be left on the cutting room floor.
Fair. But to be honest, the production quality seems to be a bit high than what the Jets in-house team normally offers. The narrator sounds like the same one who does NFL films' voiceovers. I'm thinking they outsourced this but nevertheless, yes, they'd probably censor the controversial stuff. FWIW - I have a very strong working knowledge of video and media production.
They most definitely outsourced this... someone who currently works for the Jets was fired from where I currently work because he couldn't cut documentary style even a little bit. Either it's outsourced or they hired a whole new team of people and relegated the guy I'm referencing to posting highlights.
Oh yeah. It was obviously done by an outside production company...the Jets have total control over the content. It ain't Hard Knocks.
Agreed, it's like their own version of Hard Knocks, but with less BS and distraction to the team. Loved it last year and I'm glad it's back. It gives us all something to be excited about until the season finally gets here. It's very well produced.
I'm absolutely thrilled to watch and feel the level of football knowledge, commitment, intensity and incredible innovative insight coming out of the GM and HC. I'm freaking hooked and can't wait. If we loose, it will not be because we got outsmarted and out worked.
I think it's the way fans of a team being covered by Hard Knocks want their team to be depicted, though. It's basically a really well produced puff piece. I guess I'll take that over the defense eating McDonalds on the field during the G&W Scrimmage and Antonio Cromartie forgetting the names of his kids.
Hard Knocks is soft & puffy. One Jets Drive is softer & puffier still. If they mention Herndon's suspension in an upcoming episode I'd be shocked.
What exactly are you hoping for? Hard-hitting drama? This is a day and age where pro athletes create burner accounts on Twitter to stick up for themselves. They aren't going to be all that amicable to something that portrays them in a negative light.
What exactly do we want them to get into that they won’t get into? Do we really give a shit about the inner workings of the calls from the legal office telling the Jets that Herndon is suspended for four games? And then the subsequent appeal? Do we want to follow Le’Veon Bell on his quest to reclaim the jewelry stolen by the two ladies he was banging at the same time? These are all the things I wish I could go on the Internet and say to the people that watch the product I work on. Feels good to finally get to say: just freaking enjoy the access that you were getting because at some point in the recent past, we didn’t even have it!!
I wasn't expecting hard hitting journalism. But more shots of the team showering would have been nice.
Yes, I just watched the first episode last night, and it really does seem night and day compared with previous regimes. Douglas has a championship pedigree. I love how Gase cares and focuses on things they did wrong even in a win. That's how it should be. Rex / Bowles seemed to let those issues linger as long as it didn't cost them games and then were shocked when the culture changes and they became frequent losers.
Cromartie forgetting his kids name was one of the top moments in television history. Lost in that the scene though was the fact that he listed 4 3 year olds and never mentioned twins or triplets or such.
