To be perfectly honest. I think M Kay has no ability to make a valid point on anything other than the Yankees. He has no clue about football, basketball, and hockey. He is the second biggest homer after fatessa I have ever heard.
I gotta do this too...good idea...except, I'll pick different players What was your original call about for us who didnt hear it?
Basically, what I said was that Slauson's body of work on Monday night was a solid effort, a good game with one bad play and I was tired of the Slauson bashing. I also critisized Mangold for doubling on K Gregg with Moore on that play, saying Mangold needs to remeber he has an inexperienced guard on his left... Moore didn't need any help. Ngata is far more dangerous than Gregg. Then they cut me off. Kay's response was one bad play could mean your QB is lost for the season ot something like that. I guess after Brick got mauled by J Tayor in his first starting year, starting him was a bad idea too. They have their schtick, and they go with the flow... like Esiason ripping on Slauson too. It's the easy albeit incorrect way to sound like they know what they are talking about. They don't. Now, I just gave Kay something he could ask Mangold about at 5:30 when he comes on, but Kay won't go there. I doubt he even asks Mangold a single question about Slauson. Typical NY sports talk radio, all fluff. No meat and potatos.
Good Job TB... I heard Brandon and his sidekick bashing Slauson as well.. And they go on and on wether the Jets will admit the mistake they made.... It KILLS me to hear people on the radio so clueless. that ONE play confiems to these dolts that they were right and anyone else who tries to say anything else it WRONG.
I Tweeted Lagreca to ask Mangold..... makes me nutz as well, these idiots see one bad play and That's IT, they know. Surprised Boomer takes that route though... He should know miscommunication happens... NOT TO EVEN MENTION THE FACT THAT THE PLAY REMINDED ME OF FANECA!!!!!! You know the guy that SUCKED in pass protection last year. Freaking media still voting Faneca to the Pro Bowl.
I'm all in with you on this one JB. These talking heads often have absolutely no clue. Fanecca is about to get run out of the state in AZ right now. He is getting absolutely raked over the coals out west. Being called the worst player move that franchise has made this year by the fans and the beat5 reporters. Slauson is already twice the pass blocker Faneca is. Does that matter? No...they can't let facts interfere with their opinions. The NFL needs more Mike Mayocks.
Since this is something of a "How much do our local sports rasdio guys suck" thread now... how about them (1050) busting chops about Greene getting benched? After all the fumblitiis problems of preseason, Greene put it on the ground TWICE, once having not even being touched by a defender? Kay goes on a rant about how you NEVER bench a player or fumbling, it's no way to coach, yada yada. Adrian freakin Peterson rode pine for fumbles, never mind how any Houston RB sees the bench for 2 weeks after a fumble. One fumble... OK, shit happens. Two? No... go to the bench kid. If Fred freakin Taylor fumbles twice in the first half this week, does he ride pine? You bet he does. Just more idiot crap from these idiots.
That's why the idea is to never listen to local sports radio. Its about what they can say to get you upset and make you listen more. Its been proven to work in the radio industry. I can't listen to the FAN or ESPN anymore. There is never an intelligent conversation. Its all emotional bullshit. NFL Network is the only safe haven, and even then they can get bad at times.
Pro Football Weekly announcers proclaimed the Jets as a "mediocre team at best". The reason why the Jets have a lot of haters is twofold.......all the trash talking without winning anything significant yet and those not from New York really hate our teams!
Mangold did a pretty good job of defending Slauson, but fell short of taking any blame on himself for that one play. He said to paraphrase, "As an O lineman if you play a solid game and make one mistake, they say you played a bad game. If you are a D lineman and have a bad game, but make one big play, they say you had a great game." I'm surprised Kaye went there at all.
The protection called for Slauson 1 on 1 with Ngata. I wholeheartedly disagree with that thinking, but Mangold's job was to double Gregg on that play. Did Mangold say the quoted part or did Kay?
I just ran a check because I hadn't heard that from a friend of mine who is a huge Cards fan. It doesn't look like they're down on him: http://forums.azcardinals.com/showthread.php?t=51571 I should add that I still prefer having Slauson on the line to develop AND because of Faneca's liabilities in pass protection.
Mangold said the quoted part... Kay isn't smart enough to make that sort of sense. I still have to wonder if Mangold was not partially to blame on that play, as he calls the O line blocking assignments. Let's see, I got Moore on my right against Gregg, and Slauson on my left against Ngata (according to Mangold himself, Ngata is one of the best DT's in the NFL) and Mangold doubled Gregg instead of Ngata? Maybe Mangold read an LB blitz... so I can only guess. Like so many things, we as fans can only guess at stuff like this. It's like some INT's... when it looks like the QB had a major fail, sometimes it was the WR's fault, making the wrong read or rounding a route and making the QB look bad.
on the FF boards I frequent, he's been getting blasted. I havent seen any AZ games yet, so it's thirid word of mouth.
The good news is, if nothing else, Slauson's only got 48 hours to get back in there and shut 'em up. You know Bill Callahan's gotta be lighting a fire under his ass as well--undeserved or not. Hell, they lost 10-9, not 35-zip. Green doesn't put the ball on the ground, maybe they steal a 12-10 win...whatever. Good teams circle the wagons and I for one am gonna be rootin' my ass off for the kid (and the team) come Sunday. To hell with the outsiders.
