The way you wrote it may have led some of the younger posters to think you were talking about Jacksonville's inaugural season.

Jets passers were only dumped 9 times on kickoff weekend 1996.
O'Donnell was 7 of 13 for 50 yards. Going off memory here, I'm thinking O'Donnell was sacked 6 times and Reich was sacked the other 3 times.

The record for sacks allowed by the Jets is 11. The Cowboys sacked Jets passers 11 times on 10-4-87.

That Cowboy game was a replacement game, I think David Norrie was our QB for that one.

The 1987 Dallas game was strike replacement players.

And yes, we beat Jacksonville in Week 3 of their existence in 1995, then lost down there in 1996. Think about that--one of Kotite's 4 wins in 4-28 was that game, the next one was a 1-point win over the Marino-less Dolphins, Bubby vs Bernie. I was at that one--16-15 Good Guys. Shula didn't go for two late in the game because he figured no way we beat him, then we beat him.

That's right. Norrie only played in two NFL games and was sacked 15 times.

I went to the last strike replacement game, after the strike was settled and a handful of the regulars came back. Pat Ryan played QB for the Jets, Gastineau played after Klecko and Lyons had egged his car for crossing the picket line. Jets beat Miami, Kyle Mackey was Miami's QB, who later started a game for us in 1989.
