Watched "Forbidden Planet" yesterday with Walter Pidgeon and Leslie Neilsen. Great old SciFi flick from 1956.

Big Trouble in Little China was on yesterday - one of my favorite movies. Rumor has it, they want to Remake it w/ the Rock. I fucking hope not. I was born the year this movie came out.

Did you ever see Throne of Blood? Which was Kurosawa's variation on MacBeth. I thought Toshiro Mifune's best performance. My favorite of his many great films.

Two great old English comedies: the original The Ladykillers with Alec Guinness. The first time I saw it was my freshman year of college in an auditorium with a bunch of other kids. The entire place was in stitches. And I'm Alright, Jack with Peter Sellers.

Just tracked down the DVD and purchased. Great Flick! Kurt Russel before he became Snake Plissken.

Two WW2 movies that I liked (but haven't seen in years) are: DESTINATION GOBI (with Richard Widmark). This one might be hard to find. I haven't seen it on TV, etc. for a long time. And THE DESERT FOX: THE STORY OF ROMMEL (with James Mason). One from the '80's I loved in the horror/comedy genre was NIGHT OF THE CREEPS.

TCM does show the Rommel movie occasionally. Great Flick BTW as I am a big James Mason fan. I read Rommel's biography and was surprised to learn he wasn't a Nazi but simply a German Soldier who did try to overthrow Hitler.

My favorite lines from NIGHT OF THE CREEPS:

    Ray Cameron:
I've got good news and bad news, girls. The good news is your dates are here.
    Sorority Girl with Hairbrush:
    What's the bad news?
    Ray Cameron:
    They're dead.
