Brick struggled, but it wasn't because of helping out inside. On Geno's pick, Brick got beat on a pretty basic inside rush by Trevor Scott, which was the only pressure on the play. Aside from that play, Brick had a good first half. Starting in the 3rd quarter, he began to really struggle. I don't remember exactly when, but I thought he looked slow getting out on a sweep left at one point in the second half, for example.
I don't agree with everything you said, but the bolded stuff is spot on. A good amount of pressure came from well-timed and well-executed Tampa blitzes. There were one or two blitzes on play-action resulting in Geno turning around into immediate pressure even though our line picked up their assignments correctly (the 19 yd sack was one of these, if I recall). As to the bolded about Brick, all I'll add is that I don't want to sound any alarms, but I got the same feeling watching both him and Mangold. I'm gonna quiet those voices in my head for now and chalk it up to a good performance from a solid Defensive Line.
Agreed, The line at times looked lousy and other times Geno had good amount of time and lanes to Pass or run. I think it's a new unit and it lacks cohesion at this time. I do believe the oline and Geno will improve together. The running game was stuffed mostly due to the Bucs dline not bcuz our rbs sucked. The Team as a whole has many new faces and a new system, it will take some time. The overall outlook looks very promising on the defensive and offensive end.
Ducasse dominated Wilfolk; I saw 2 pancakes. I find it hilarious that the NFLN had him as the "star" of the game for the post game interview...LOL.
Hey....best game of his career. Thank goodness he's finally learning. Gotta give props to coaching staff. He usta suk.....scarry !!! OL played best game in years.
Anyone that can pancake someone like Wilfork deserves a ton of credit. He was one of the few things I was extremely impressed with tonight.
Big Vlad had his best game as a Jet tonight. Not saying much, since he's been awful, but he shut down that fat motherfucker Wilfork a few times.
That is a very hard task for almost anyone and Vlad was doing it consistently all night. Some players take awhile to develop in this league, just because he was awful in the past doesn't mean he will always be awful. I'm very optimistic Vlad has turned the corner and will be a very reliable LG for us for the future.
i think hes ideally a RG. hopefully we can re-sign him cheap this offseason and winters will be ready to step in at LG
Good job VLAD After watching tape of this game the main standout is VLAD handling willfork. This isn't the same guy as last year. I'm impressed that he turned it around. Good job VLAD
I gotta say, I was more than impressed with the kid. He more than held his own. If he can develop into a serviceable material, probably he fits better at RG.
It would be great if Vlad signed for cheap before the end of the season. He and Howard would definitely have the prototypical size of road graders for the right hand side of the line.
Anyone that can stand up Wilfork one on one that way is a freakish monster. Wilkfork is pushing 400. We always knew this kid had tools and upside. If he can be consistent with his play he has the potential to be special. With Vlads recent coming out, if the rest of the line plays up to expectation, it could really be strong.
I've said it since day 1. Vlad on the Ground game is a fuckin BEAST! While he still has heavy feet and has trouble vs quick rushers and his assignments, He has improved in BOTH of those immensely. He isn't a pro bowler but he is more than serviceable right now. His progress is what it is. Progress.
Exactly royal tee. That makes him very good inside playing guard but very susceptible playing RT....it seems like he's finding his niche. Glad the FO and coaching staff continued to work hard with him.
I completely agree. Vlad is turning into one of the most pleasant personnel surprises of the season. I just wish he could play without a helmet, he's just so damn handsome!
