I don't know if there is anyone on the roster that can. There probably isn't. But Ryan Fitzpatrick we know without a doubt can't. We also know he's not the future and he's a backup QB so whats the point in letting him try
Exactly illustrated in the OP. The rookie head coach....knowing the fans hatred for the other guy...is hesitant. Understandably so. This is his career.
The point is watching a livable product out there week after week. You put Geno in as the starter with Mangold out and a question mark at right guard and the RB's all banged up and the receivers dropping balls here and there and the Jets are going to start losing blow outs. That's just what it is. I hate watching blowouts and there's no QB out there worth a top 10 pick at this point anyway. The Jets best chance at a QB in the draft next year is to somehow get that 20-odd pick that lets them take a chance on somebody like Connor Cook without giving up huge value in the process.
No I ask WHY the premise couldnt be respected? Why couldnt this matter be discussed on a purely hypothetical basis? And, if it had been, what would the concensus be? Sent from my SM-G386T1 using Tapatalk
The reason most people don't want Geno out there is because he hasn't inspired confidence in his ability to lead the team in his many opportunities so far. You can't make some of the decisions that he's made and stay on the field in the NFL.
Two straight games against mediocre teams where we score 3 damn points in the first half is not a watchable product to me It's the same story against any team with a pulse....get shit on, the defenses sit back and give us false hope and then clamp down again when it matters Fitz is straight up trash lately and a change is needed I don't give a damn who they put out there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How do you KNOW how the guy will play? Based on two seasons with practice squad receivers? Can we say we KNOW how the current starter will fare.....based on 10 years with 6 teams?
Because when a whiny bithchy Genobot starts an infantile but obviously trolling thread it can't be discussed on a purely hypothetical basis because it is 1000% transparent what you are trolling about. Try again. _
And I still want someone to show me the holes Ivory should be running through. Everyone kills RBs when the yardage is not there. We are not moving anybody out. Plus I think Ivory was hurt for a month there. we also got burned on the Shorts pass. If Rich Gannon can talk about Shorts throwing the ball two plays before it happens......
You see, that's the point....Fitz is not good at all, but -7>-12. You can really suck and still be better than the truly terrible. For instance Troll>Genobot>Tebot
I don't care if they get blown out or lose by 1 TD. It doesn't make a difference to me, a loss is a loss but I'm not gonna argue if it makes a difference to you. What I will say is that I'm not so sure there is much of a gap between Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick to suggest that all these close losses would be blowouts. They are both really flawed QBs, no doubt about it, but Geno brings things that Fitzpatrick doesn't. Arm strength... maybe that loosens these defenses up or at least keeps them honest. And mobility... when we are behind its an added weapon to pick up yardage. Since we're playing from behind a lot lately, deep passes and mobility and a young QB sounds a lot more appealing to me than a flawed, aging, stopgap veteran QB that never wins games from behind
I don't want to use names but have any of you ever tried that thing-- it's made of like dough, but it's round and its baked? And on top it's got this sauce, I don't want to spoil it for you so I won't use its name but it's made of tomatoes and basil and garlic and onions that have been simmered for a few hours? And there's this other stuff on top--no names but it's white and it's really stringy and delicious? Have any of you tried something like that? No names, just being hypothetical here. _
It makes a big difference to me. Teams that lose blowouts tend to be bad again the next year. I don't want to see the Jets turn a 4 year non-playoff streak into a decade. We've done that before. Not again.
