Wentz is most definitely a bust. He has been benched or cast off by 3 teams in the last 4 years. Not sure how you can argue otherwise. It is not about expecting a hall of famer, you simply expect your 1st round draft pick to be a starter and not have to benched multiple times. It was toxic in Philly with him as starter and I see a lot of similarities with our young QB here (minus any good games of course). The locker room hated him
Does it help or hurt to point out that Indy was 9-8 with Wentz last season before Irsay scapegoated him and moved on. They're 4-9-1 with Matt Ryan. Is that Wentz's fault somehow? My take on the Colts is that they do very little with the talent they have on hand recently and Wentz was a huge part of why they did well last year.
One other thing about Wentz: he has had some very iffy owners. Lurie, Irsay and Snyder are about as meddly a group as you get aside from Jerry Jones.
Not advocating for him at all but he'd be by far the most talented QB we have had since Chad. However the Jets are not exactly the most stable team at the moment and his tendency to take chances would probably be completely out of control here.
We shouldn't go after him, Garoppolo or Minshew would be better free agent options. But I agree he would have been our best QB since Chad.
