the jets play not to lose untill they have to play to win - shotty is scared to come out the gates blazing - wants every game to be won in the trenches ..

I would agree with you if we had a running game. Problem is we do not right now.

Also, Im not talking about a shoot out. Im talking about opening up the running game with the pass from the get go. If you start slow and do not go toe to toe with the Pats, you could find yourself down 14-0. After watching the Pats defense today, I would go on the offensive and say we can put points on the board with them. We can also stop them a decent amount of the time.

Just stop being the reactor and be the aggressor. The Lions were moving the ball at will against them.

i agree - we need to pass to run - we always try to start off scrapping first downs instead of trying to blow down the field

Right, because all the penalties today led to the loss. It was a horrible ending what with the Bengals winning and all.

Jets ran for 170 yards tonight. It may not be the rushing dominance of last year but it's pretty close. I agree with you about the aggressor bit though.

I don't know whether or not you can credit Schottenheimers conservative game plan in the first half with seeing something in Sanchez early on or before the game, but as pissed as people were at half time, that conservative game plan may have saved them from an ugly loss.

With as good as Sanchez has been and as suspect as the Bengals secondary was you would expect the Jets to attack that secondary, but as shell shocked as Sanchez looked and as poor as his decisions were in the 2nd half we could've easily been looking at another Bills-esque 5 INT game. At least Sanchez picked a good week to lay an egg, because the Jets are going to need him against the Pats.

Yeah but almost a third of that came on Smiths run. They are not dominating like last year off the ball.

But I hear what you are saying. I think I sometimes look at this offense as being so damn good on paper. With Cotch, its the best group of receivers, tight end that I can remember (for the Jets that is). I expect this team to move at will for most of the game up and down the field. Its really tough to have a team to dominate both in the run and pass department. It seems like the running game has suffered with the progression of the passing game. Not sure why that is.

Im really not sure what the proper way to attack the Pat game is. I just do not want to be reactionary to Brady passing his way all over the field and spend most of the game adjusting to what they do on both sides of the field.

In a perfect world, I would love to see us come out and run the ball down the their friggin throats....for many reasons. Just dont see that happening.

I don't think it's so much the red zone as it is the area between the 50 and the 35. We seem to stall out right when we enter the opposing team's half of the field.

The Jets have no running game because they do nothing consistent on offense, nothing. If the run is working, they pass, if the pass is working, they run, if it is 2nd and 24 they fucking wildcat.

I am not a Schotty hater but his calling of the game today was atrocious. Sanchez wasn't on today however, it seemed like they were gashing the Bengals on runs consistently. Yet the Jets didn't just ram the ball down their throat. I don't know what they did tonight on offense. It was puke inducing and made no sense.

Another thing, the Jets just went up by 16. They get ok field position. What do they do? They fucking run. They should of just went for the jugular. Like it or not that is what the Pats would do. That is why less teams hang around in games with them. They, maybe more specifically TB, has more killer instinct than he Jets, Rex and Sanchez.

The Bengals were begging to be put away tonight, just begging. The Jets couldn't do it. I really think it is because sometimes they just can't get out of their own fucking way.

For some reason I was just totally frustrated with today's game, more so even than the Houston game.

Then it is the same penalties over and over and over again. To be fair the refs were just brutal but the Jets just consistently give mulligans to their opponents. That is on the coach's, from the top down. Man the penalties make me want to kick my dog.

If the Jets came out sharp, this game is over in the 1st quarter. The Bungles are bad in every facet of the game. I think they are worse than the Lions (with Stafford), Browns etc. Like I said before that team was begging to be put down.

    Quote of the Day!

Its a scary thought knowing that we havent even reached our potential as a team yet, and still lead the league in wins. Not sure why alot of the stupid posters see the dark side. Oh yeah, thats right, they are the 'darksiders'.

Our problem is we win, and certain Jet fans have to look for a reason why we should be losing. I know how it pains some of you but we are 9-2 and you're just going to have to find a way to deal with it.

Tough life being a Jet fan right now I know. Too bad we aren't Bengal fans huh??

    Please rate my sarcasm.

Totally agree about the jugular comment along with the rest. Teach the kid to put a team away. Perfect game to do it. PERFECT. Yet they play it safe.

The sarcasm is great...but thats a completely unfair analysis of being a Jet fan this year. We have had good records in the past and rightfully saw holes in it.

I think looking at like its a perfect picture is being a bit blind the other way...nothing against you but we have shown some pretty majore flaws.

He wasn't going to throw 5 picks.

His decision making has vastly improved.

I don't think we'll ever see that again from him. Its almost a certainty.

On the one hand - there's no way any of us thought that the team would be 9-2 at this point in the season before it started. On the other hand - it's a pretty shaky 9-2 with a lot of nailbiter wins over mediocre to awful teams. Record aside, I think it's totally valid to question whether this team is anywhere near as good as it thinks it is.

If they beat the Pats then all of us doubters will become believers but I just don't see that happening based on the way each of these teams is playing.

You are your record. Why does this team always have to prove itself to everyone? It'll be a helluva game and perfect time for Sanchez to step up after a shaky performance last night. Have faith and ye shall be rewarded. Praise the Sanchize.

Yeah, the penalties seem to kill us on both sides of the ball. Good drives get called back on offense and when our defense has them in 3rd and long, we get a flag and its 1rst and 10. It's frustrating to see the team playing sloppy for part of the game and then see them tighten things right up and put together a fantastic drive / defensive stop. Whenever we get a complete game out of this team, it should be quite a show.......praying for that game to come at Foxboro!

I said it was a problem, not OMFG its the end of the world!!!

If you don;t think 7 to 9 is a bad thing every game I don;t know what sport your watching. Htese things kill drives on offense, extend drives on defense and make games that are in hand suddenly close. Its an issue that needs to be handled before playoffs. Giving McCoy or Plamer an extra set of downs is completely diferent than handing one guys like Rivers, Brady and Manning.

This sounds far more like Rex's philosophy than it does Schotty's. Play it safe and let the defense win it is what Rex has been preaching since he became head coach.
