if he came on a 1 year contract, it wouldn't be slap in the face since Tanny could sign him without any regard for next season, whereas all the deals for those players would have to be in consideration for the long term. that being said, this thread is a waste.
I heard that Turk heard from any inside source that the Jets were going to sign OJ Atogwe and then trade him to the Raiders for Nnamdi Asomugha and a multiple first round picks.
Reports are Miami isnt interested now either, but honestly who fucking knows. They will need more than OJ Atogwe to beat the Jets any way next season.
Rofl I just read a bullshit article that the Jets may of offered him something, but it isnt as high as other clubs are bidding. http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/06/02/sources-rams-still-favorites-for-atogwe-dolphins-in-pursuit/
Oshiomogho Atogwe Forgive me if this is already being discussed in another thread, but Pat Kirwan over at nfl.com discusses how he's about to make a late entry into the open market. I'm not sure what the Jets' capability is with the special free agent limits this off-season, but with Ihedigbo and Pool being risks and/or unknowns at the starting safety position opposite Leonhard, I figured it'd make sense for the Jets to explore the option. Kirwan writes a short blurb about how the list of possible suitors has been cut down considerably after the draft. Atogwe, to me, would represent a huge upgrade. Additionally, it would give the Jets excellent depth in the secondary. Naturally, you get concerned about the cap number in 2011 and beyond, and I'm admittedly not familiar with where the Jets currently stand in that respect. However, Atogwe will begin the season at 29 and IMHO is a nice candidate for a relatively long-term deal, say 3 or 4 seasons. What do you guys think?
I don't get this either. Otogwe is arguably their best player on defense. Maybe he had a falling out with the CS or wants out.
I read about it over the weekend, and I was baffled. He's a desirable player and one of the only good players they had. Even if they wanted to get rid of him, they still should've tendered him so they'd get compensation. Or they could've tendered him at the first round level (or even first and third) and traded him for somewhat less if no one was biting. Now they get nothing.
