It's ok. It's a role that has turned into a whole chorus this offseason

Nnamdi Asomugha is a cornerback. He is also under a huge contract. Atogwe is a safety, and they really don't have much to do with each other.

    *cries for the children*

It's not that the rams don't want him back. They do. He just wants out of St.Louis... from everything I've seen and read, anyway.

I did this in madden and it worked SUPER GOOD.

Nnamdi and Revis starting at CB, and Cromartie rotating between the nickel back and FS. SO GOOD

Edit: Rotating with Eric Smith, obviously.

Yeah, but sadly I already knew better. I understand the whole Final 8 thing. I just had a complete brain fart. Damnit.

What? You don't think that makes sense?

Do you just come up with stuff at random?

What if the Colts cut Manning?

He's really frustrated after being franchised last season and now an RFA this season. If he gets a long-term offer, then he'll be fine with St. Louis.

That's actually the main reason the Rams gave him the tender. Since the two sides could not come up with a number on their own, they are going to use sort of a third party arbitrator to figure out his market value.

My interpretation of this situation is that the Rams want to sign him long term, but were having trouble getting a deal done, so they gave him the low tender to encourage more teams to sign him, and then they'll just match that offer. It's an easy way of getting a long-term deal done; they don't have to do any of the negotiating. If he's as good as everyone thinks he is, I'd be shocked if they let him go for nothing, especially with the lack of talent on that team.

Could always put a nice poison pill into the offer sheet that the Rams can't possibly match.

    Bingo!!!

I don't know though.. Don't you think the Jets would've made a move on him by now if they were going to?

Maybe Mr.T is actually content with E.Smith and Ideghbo? I don't know how to spell his name, but you get the idea. :)

I'm wondering if we hold off on making any big signings until the draft.

Any Sean Jones love on this board? The guy is big physical and has some ball skills. He'd be cheaper than Atogwe.

Well i think Mr. T realizes that there is little to no market right now for Atogwe, so why rush into it and look desperate. He can slow play both the Rams and Atogwe maybe.. act like Smith and Ihedigbo are the answer and we don't need a Safety.. then when it gets to draft time and the Rams are feeling a little desperate and Atogwe is making noise how he doesnt want to be a Ram anymore, then we strike and try to pay as little as possible to get him.

At least that's how I would hope Mr. T would play this one. Unless of course they legitimately have no interest in Atogwe and plan on drafting a safety or going with a safety by committee approach.

    No market for Atogwe ?

Theres rumors about Chicago, Seattle, Dallas, Rams all having interest in him. Plus Miami was looking @ Rolle and Clark both of them are gone. I wouldnt count them out.

Truthfully I dont think they Jets go for Atogwe at all. Keep hearing alot about how we like Smith and Ideghbo and if anything I can just see us grabbing a mid round safety and go from there.

Atogwe would be awesome, but I personally think its incredibly unlikely.

On Friday Tannenbaum told Michael Kay that Kerry Rhodes would be on the Jets. A few hours later that bitch was gone. The FO isn't going to come out and say, 'well, we're fucked at safety fellow NFL teams. So uhhh, what do you guys have to offer?'
