I'm relaxed. Your post indicated that you weren't, but you now are, so it's cool. BTW I didn't mention Bell to you in my response. I understand however. We do have posters who only seem to care about the D or about the OL. I wasn't here for the McFadden debate, so can't comment on that.
I’m not overlooking how great a player Bell is either. He’s phenomenal. To deny that is delusional. But (i) he’s going to break down soon, (ii) he’s going to want MASSIVE $$ and (iii) he’s somewhat of an asshole which leads me to believe he’ll pull a Wilkerson. Sorry, as great as he is, he’s not worth the headache. Having said that, if we got him I’d be his biggest fan. Until he threw a teammate under the bus or dogged it.
Interesting. I like the out-of-the-box thinking. I just don't like the results. I love Mack as a player, but imo both the Jets and Jags get hosed in that trade and the Raiders make out like Bandits. One would think that you're a Raiders fan rather than a Jets fan. The Raiders don't have much leverage. Mack shows no intention of signing. If he is forced to stay, things will not be good in that lockerroom. IMO there's no way that they should get that kind of value in a trade. At best, they should get Fowler and Kearse, but I'm not even sure that they need or would want Kearse. They have a good WR corps.
You call them "stats" when in reality it's 'on field production'. • 2,983 rushing yards. • 4.49 average yards per carry. • 19 rushing TD's. • 173 receptions. • 1,372 receiving yards. • 5 TD receptions. • 4,325 Yards From Scrimmage. • 24 Offensive Touchdowns. How are those numbers over the past two years "making your point"? Those numbers are the complete opposite of a "washed up", ''old", "beaten up player". I guess if Le'Veon Bell is considered "beaten down" at the age of only 26 then all of the All-Time great RB's were also "washed up" at the age of 26. Yea. Right. O.k. Whatever you say. What a complete joke.
3 yr players aren't in greatest all time discussions. Find me another 10 year player with numbers comparable to Martin, other than Barry Sanders. Your density never ceases to baffle me.
You can continue to repeat the same "stats" and call them anything you like. You are continuing to make my point for me and you don't even understand how which is actually the funniest part of the joke.
And I would love to have a few high end players at the offensive skill positions. I just believe that our OL badly needs a LT who can protect Darnold's blind side. I wish we could've gotten a few of the WR's and RB's taken in the 2014-2017 drafts, but it wasn't meant to be for a number of reasons. We may have a developing stud at WR in Anderson if he can get his head on straight. I can wait until 2020 to draft our stud RB if it means we have a better OL and pass rush by then. I don't think signing Bell is the right move given his age, carries, and money he'll ask for.
He doesn't seem to realize that one of the most important characteristics of a great RB is 'ball security'. His favorite Freeman fumbled the fkn football once every 39.9 attempts (horrid) when in comparison to my favorite Martin who only fumbled the football once every 150.5 attempts (All-Time greatness). He also doesn't seem to quite comprehend that amongst Jet RB's #28 ranks 1st in rushing yards, 1st in rushing TD's, 1st in rushing yards per game, 1st in receptions and 2nd in receiving yards. In what world is Curtis Martin not the greatest Jets RB of All-Time? Said no expert, ever. And as you mentioned not only is Martin 4th All-Time in NFL rushing yards but he's also top 10 (9th) All-Time in offensive yards from scrimmage only behind the likes of Marcus Allen, Frank Gore, Barry Sanders, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and JERRY RICE. Yea. Right. "Freeman McNeil" .
Not getting where hes an asshole or a headache other than he wants to be paid Shady McCoy is 4 years older and is very productive, has been for his whole time in Buffalo. Dont see why Bell cant be the same type of back. 5 productive seasons isnt out of the realm of possibility. The real question, and I go bakc and forth, is do you want to make the financial commitment to a RB.
He seems completely unaware that Martin (damn near) has more 1,000+ yard seasons and Pro Bowl/All-Pro years than McNeil, Snell & Boozer... COMBINED. . McNeil: Two 1,000+ yard seasons. 3 Pro Bowls and 1 All-Pro. Boozer: Zero 1,000+ yard season's. 2 Pro Bowls and 0 All-Pro's. Snell: Zero 1,000+ yard seasons. 3 Pro Bowls and 0 All-Pro's. Boozer/Snell/McNeil combined for 2 1,000+ yard seasons, 8 Pro Bowls & 1 All-Pro. Curtis #28 Martin combined for 10 1,000+ yard seasons, 5 Pro Bowls & 1 All-Pro. And somehow he "thinks" all 3 were better than #28? Funny. O.k enough of this Curtis Martin talk but just know if there were no "stats" there would be no Pro Bowls, no All-Pro's and no Legendary Hall of Fame players. People don't like when I use Le'Veon Bell's "stats" ala on field production because it doesn't fit their agenda.
He’s known to be somewhat of an asshole, he’s thrown teammates under the bus, it seems like he’s been holding out every year and recently said $60 million isn’t enough to come run with the Jets. I fear he’s Mo Wilkerson version 2.0.
Reminds me of another former Steeler, whose attitude and work ethic issues only intensified after cashing in..
You realize you are lecturing an actual true Jet who actually saw the players you need to google to compile your stats? You realize you are lecturing someone who idolizes Curtis, who is one of my top 10 Jets of all time? You can continue to disparage true Jet fans and former Jet greats because you think it is helping you win internet arguments but it’s just making you sound like more of a tool. We all know how great Curtis is, we all know the “stats” but some of us actually saw some of the ex-great Jets PLAY and don’t need to google them or read Wikipedia to form an opinion. IMHO as great as Curtis was, I don’t think he was our best RB. Clearly the best statistical RB but not the best pure RB. That’s an opinion based upon actually WATCHING them all play. And he’s clearly not the greatest Jet of all time. Besides, shouldn’t you be posting on a Dolphins fan forum?
It would be nice to get this thread back on topic. Start another thread to discuss future RB plans or past RB comparison.
dude your original rant about Curtis was tremendously horrible. More people would have jumped down your throat about it but because f whom you were debating, people let it go. And in teh NFL, if you are a compiler, youre a hall of famer because most people dont least 3 years. Curtis Martin is an all time great Jet.
Ugh... I remember him posting that the day the Jets paid him and said to myself "we're screwed" I was at the 9ers game where he handed the ball to a defender (that was run back for a touchdown) after he got hurt. Why does this crap always happen to the Jets? Makes me believe whatever decision is ultimately made will be the wrong one.
Saw 3 new pages of posts on this topic and got excited.. then realized almost none of it was about trading for Mack.
