who all have top 10 QBs - we have a bottom 10 QB - give the Jets even a "good" QB and we would have comprable success over the last 4 years as those teams have had.
Where'd you come up with that??? There's plenty of people who could own the Jets in the tri-state area.
The Jets are a very expensive acquisition in a non-ideal situation. I don't think a lot of people would be willing to take on the issues that they represent at this point when they'd have to pay a premium to do it. Trump is an obvious outlier who would do just about anything to stay relevant. He's also one of the few peope who could manage the acquisition of the Jets plus their accumulated debt load without breaking a sweat. He wouldn't use his own money for the most part but he'd still own the team. The obvious alternative is the investor group in LA who have such a large investment out there already in terms of infrastructure commitments and related ventures that they'd pay the heavy premium to acquire the Jets and activate the rest of the enterprise.
It would be nice if we could trade Scott,Devito and Pace in a packaged deal,Issah Trufant is also a free agent, I say we bring him back as well he has improved. Scott and Pace will still be under contract , Scott is gone for sure and Pace has a little trade value not much. I can't see us cutting Pace and eating the cap loss. If we don't find any trading intrest he will be a Jet next year
I'd be happy as a clam if you told me Woody sold the team to Trump. Trump doesnt take any shit and cares about winning as much as Steinbrenner.
Offseason RE-signing priority list; Level 1 priority LaRon Landry ---- we are not going to draft a safety. E. Smith has to be gone. Not sure what Y. Bell has left in the tank. No one else on the roster is close to ready. Dustin Keller ---- we can re-sign him relatively cheap because we effectively de-valued him over the past few years with an incompetent offensive game plan and coordinator staff. Robert Malone ----- FINALLY,.....A PUNTER!!!! Level 2 priority Kyle Wilson -- actually covers the slot relatively well. While Trufant has been showing promise, K. Wilson could be re-signed at a relatively good value. Mike DeVito --- I'm a longtime DeVito fan. Anyone who can give Logan Mankins a hard time in the ground game is someone I want on this team. Shonn Greene --- another player we devalued (see Keller's reason) -- $$ reasonable resigning. This is a necessary evil as we have not made any good draft/FA acquisitions at this position. Level 3 priority; Yeremiah Bell ---- because we'd be the only team interested in re-signing him. Not sure what he has left in the tank. Might have to since we've ignored the safety position since we drafted Sherry Rhodes. Aaron Maybin --- reverting back to his old ways. But would only cost the vet minimum. Everyone else ---- GTFOOH!
Progressively worse? Lets see, we had the same record in 2009, than 2008 before Rex WITH Brett Favre. So we have just as much success (and more because of playoffs) with a rookie QB, than with Brett friggin Favre. Our defense went from #16 overall to #1 in ONE YEAR. That is improvement. In 2010, our offense got better and defense was still top 4, and we had an 11-5 record. In 2011 we regressed and 2012 we regressed again with tons of injuries. We improved 2 years back to back and then went down. Claiming the talent has dropped off every year since Rex came on board is a blatant lie. You can't just ignore the good times and focus on the bad to make an argument.
I disagree about Mike Devito, We need guys at his posistion who can get sacks and stop the run. If we kept him for depth and brought in a new starter id be alright with that. We need a guy on this defense who is gonna scare QB's and who can get over 10 sacks, we haven't had a 10 sack plus guy in the Rex Ryan era its time to turn the page
^Its not easy to find 3-4DEs who can rush the passer and occupy their gaps consistently. You're asking for a JJ Watt or Alphonso Smith, highly coveted players. DeVito is a good not great 34DE who can even play a little NT. He has definite value.
It's not a 3-4 D-Lineman's job to get sacks. The pass rush in a 3-4 comes from the linebackers. DeVito's job is to stuff the run which he has done well. When we go to a 4-3 look notice how DeVito is either playing the inside or not on the field altogether.
Brother, take off the rose colored glasses and wake up. This team is not as talented as it was last year, or the year before that or the previous 2 seasons before that. You seriously want to tell me the offense we've got now is more talented then when we had Cotchery Keller Holmes and Edwards? You're seriously going to tell me the defense is better then it was in Rex' first 2 seasons? Special Teams? Overall team depth? Are you smoking the chronic?
The team actually hasn't declined every year since Rex got here though. It went up in his second year and then dropped the next 2 years. There was small rise, that fell off
We're NEVER going to have a top tier 'elite' QB as long as Rex and Tanny are running the show. Simply because we'll never finish the season 'bad enough' to get a top tier 'elite' QB. So everyone screaming and crying and beating your wife and kicking your dog over Sanchez, get over it. Rex has. You can too. It may take counseling, but you can do it. Mark come out VERY YOUNG, VERY EARLY after just one season taking the snaps at USC. I won't even say 'but he got us to 2 championship games in a row' because he didn't. What got us there? First, a bit of luck followed by a #1 O-line and a #1 Defense and a #1 running game. So fuck the 'fire Mark' bullshit and get us back to a #1 O-line and a #1 Defense and a #1 running game. And surround Mark with the same good players year in and year out. And stop giving Mark an offensive coordinator that's a rocket scientist in Shotty or a Neanderthal in Sparano. That's all.
^^^ Your avatar/sig combination is unmatched on this site. In order from most pressing to least pressing: New GM. OLB pass rusher. Running Back Hotter cheerleaders. QB... Maybe a starter, maybe not. But I want a competition. Free safety. WR. Preferably one that's incredibly quick and can return punts.
Well he will not be back next year, expeically if the season continues on like it has, Woody will want to make changes everywhere forcing whoever our GM is and Rex to overhaul the talent
Hopefully Woody will do this. It's a decaying talent base that was acquired on mistaken assumptions about future potential of almost all the players on the roster. There are maybe a dozen players on the roster right now that are worth keeping if the Jets are serious about building a topflight team.
