I agree with this. If this team (and Sanchez) play like they have been for the rest of the season, there is no reason why Sanchez should be the starting QB and major turnover shouldnt happen.

Throwing away a season because one player has a shitty contract is no excuse in the NFL.

Really the number one off-season priority for the Jets is that they get a clue that does not involve Woody spending $150 million dollars on soon-to-be reviled/retired free agents.

My first priority in the off season would be to get a new owner.

Serious question here: if you had to choose would you rather have Woody Johnson or Donald Trump as the Jet's owner?

Because if you want the Jets to stay in the metro area those may be your only choices.

LA. Somebody is going to LA in the next few years and unless the Vikings oblige the next franchise that shakes loose is probably on the button.

 We were 11-5 in 2010. Are you going to take away all 11 of those wins as well? I'm not just talking 2 games. I'm talking Rex Ryan's entire record as coach of the Jets. The only one comparable to that is Parcells' 3 year stint, which doesn't have as many playoff wins. Yes, Rex Ryan is one of the best coaches the Jets have had in 40+ years. Parcells is comparable, but nobody else that has ever coached the Jets has come close, especially when you consider playoff wins, WHICH DO MATTER when looking at the effectiveness of a head coach. Anybody calling for Rex's head needs to get their emotions in check and obviously hasn't experienced the years and years and years of disappointment. 4-12 anybody? I remember a lot of those.

Times have really changed. Apparently claiming the season is NOT over at 3-5 and that the Seahawks game is not an automatic loss makes me king of the sunshiners. Sure I'll be that. Much better than being a negative nancy fan that pouts and complains about everything. Like I said. If we lose this weekend it's over barring a miracle. If we win, we still have a very good chance in this weak AFC. Simple facts, bra.

Mike Devito- He is good at stoping the run but thats all he's good at. We need someone with more speed who can do both. Gone via trade

Calvin Pace-Regardless to how most of us feel Calvin Pace will likley be a Jet in 2013. Cutting him would be to big of a cap loss to eat and he doesn't have any serious trade value. He is overpaid and and I don't see anybody wanting to give up anything for him.Returns

Jeff Cumberland-He has done pretty well this year at certain times. We need more depth at the TE posistion so i say he staysReturns

Bart Scott- I have no doubt this is his last season with the Jets. At this point he is to old and a waste of cap space.Gone

LaRon Landry-Possibly our most important free agent witch we need to resign. Landry has been beyond impressive I just hope he wants to come back. I think we will make him a nice 2 or 3 year offer.Resigns

Dustin Keller-I want Keller to come back but im not sure he's going to wanna come back. He might test the open market and I could see another team making him a pretty nice offer. Not Sure

Yerimah Bell-I would like him back with a one year deal.He has done a great job but Tanny always gets rid of players once they hit Bells age regardless of how they are playing. Gone

Aaron Maybin-I don't see anyway Maybin comes back unless he has an amazing second half of the season but for now he's def gone.Gone

Shonn Grenne- I think Greene would be better off being a number 2 back. He would be more successful when defense are tired out. With that said I actually want him back if we have a new number 1 back that isn't on our roster yet.Returns

Tim Tebow-Tebow isn't gonna be a free agent but his status with this team next season will be in question.Theres no way Tebow will want to play here again next season unless he is the starter and i don't blame him. I see us trading him to a team like Jax or KC before the draft.Gone Via Trade

Eric Smith-Eric Smith isn't as bad as he used to be and thats only because he isn't starting anymore. In the number 3 or 4 role I don't have a problem with him but he isn't capable of starting at any Saftey posistion.Keep For Depth

Bryan Thomas-No way he is a Jet in 2013, he is to old and we need to get younger at the linebacker posistion.Gone

Issah Trufant-Trufant is actually done a pretty good job this year, He is shorter then most corners but has shown he can cover.Returns

Darelle Revis-Revis has wanted a new contract since this past offseason. Now that he has gotten injured and put on IR it could effect his leverage and we might not give in to his demands. He could hold out again if we don't give him the contract he wants and it could get ugly fast.Back If Contract Dispute Gets Settled

Robert Malone-He has done a good job so far this year.Returns

Sione Pouha-We just resigned him this past offseason to a 3 year deal. But to me he is always banged up and it seems like he lost a step along the way. I think he will be back if he stays healthy the rest of the wayStays

Chaz Scilenz,Jason Hill-Jason Hill won't be back next year and im not so sure about Chaz. Scielnz has been alright at times and I wouldn't mind keeping him for depth.

Brandon Moore-Moore will def be back next season, at this point the offensive line needs all the depth it can find. And Moore has proven to be a solid player overall. I just hope we don't overpay him .Returns

Santonio Holmes-Regardless of how most of Jets fans feel Holmes will be a Jet in 2013.Stays

Rex Ryan-Rex will be back as head coach regardless of how this season turns out.Stays

Mike Tannenbaum-If this season ends up going in the same direction it seems impossible that Tanny survives that. If we turn it around and go on a run then he probably stays. It's to early to tell

Free Agents We Sign From Other Teams

WR- Steve Smith is a serious option I also belive we will take a look at Greg Jennings,Dwayne Bowe and Josuha Cribbs, I honestly belive we will sign two of the players on this list. Or do we take a shot at Mike Wallace???Theres alot of WR talent avlailbe in free agency and if we don't make some big moves ill be shocked.I think we will be big players in this area next yearWe end up Signing Greg Jennings and Josuha Cribbs

DT-I think we will look at Jason Jones or Alan Branch down in Seattle. They would be a huge improvement over Pouha or Devito but i think we Draft a new DT
Draft a DT in the 3rd round

DE-Our defensive ends have not been that impressive and the Jets need some playmakers at the posistion. Dwight Freeney is getting up there in age but would be better then anybody on our roster at the DE posistion. Cliff Avril also could be a big option for usWe sign Cliff Avril

RB-There are some free agents availabe but alot of the guys available are always banged up and running high on miles run, Steven Jackson,Mendenhal and Felix Jones are some guys out there but I see us drafting a RB in the first round this year.We Draft A RB in round 1

OLB,MLBThis will be a big need for us with Thomas,Maybin,Bart Scott and even Pace probably gone. So whos available???theres only one name and thats Anthony SpencerSign OLB Anthony SpencerDemario Davis takes over for Scott and we make a midlevel signing at MLB

CB-Corner is our most talented part of the team already,But for Rex there's always room for more corners. I think our corners will be the same as last season

SS-With Bell likley gone i can see us signing Jarius Byrd who would be a nice fit

I've been a season ticket holder since 1980.

    I'm talking about Rex' tenure.

I'm also referring to Rex's tenure as compared to every other coach we've had. Please refer to my post a few posts up in regards to that. If there are any errors in what I said, please let me know. It's been a few months since I've gone through those coaching stats, so maybe I'm off now.

The talent level of this team has gotten progressively worse each year since Rex took over.
I want a coach/GM that is going to build a consistent winning tradition. IMO, these guys are not competent enough to build a team that will compete consistently.
Rex has made this team a laughing stock.

If I'm building a team I'm using teams like the GIANTS, PACKERS, STEELERS as examples.

Rex took this franchise to another level by bringing us to back to back AFC Championship games beating the Great Peyton Manning and Tom Brady on the road, it is amazing to me how quick Jets fans forget about that, it wasn't that long ago, Tom Coughlin missed the playoffs two years in a row then went on to win the Superbowl. The Jets will get back to the level Rex had us at those years, it might not be this year but i belive in Rex, it's gonna take alot more then another losing season for me to give up on him

Exactly, I can't belive how many people have given up on Rex. We almost played in back to back Superbowls, its a shame we didn't get there those two years but atleast he got us that close, I still think Rex is gonna get us to the promised land,Can u imagine the sight of Rex hoisting the Lombardi trophy??? It will be the greatest image in Football history

I'm still 100% on board with RR if things don't work out with Sanchez he should get a shot with another QB.

What would be different the next time around assuming he did not get an established veteran QB?

I don't think Rex is well grounded enough on offense for the Jets to develop a young QB on his watch. I don't think he knows what needs to be done to make the process work and I don't think the Jets have anybody else on board who can do that.

I'm only ok with Rex for another few years if the Jets get a Vinny-esque veteran to run the offense or if they hand the offensive coordinator role to somebody who clearly can develop a young QB to the top of his game.

Oh, but it is. I'm not talking about replacing 30 players here. Teams replace players all the time and successful teams do it well.

Calvin Pace: Anyone, doesn't matter. He's not productive. Give a young player a shot (McIntyre) or better yet, don't trade all your draft picks for a project and pick players and plug them into holes. Hell, if this team smartens up to a 43 instead of a 34, you won't need to replace him. You've already got enough DL on this team to form two teams.

    Bart Scott: Demario Davis.

Mark Sanchez: A cardboard box. Something that won't create turnovers and has a sense of pocket awareness. There are plenty of choices. You don't need a gunslinger so long as Rex Ryan is the HC and this team can find a competent RB.

Unfortunately, as a previous poster stated, the talent level on this team has continued to decrease during Rex's tenure.

Yeah LA is going to get a team in due time, I would assume that the Raiders, or even the Jaguars (why does FL even have 3 teams, all 3 are irrelevant anyway). Vikings also could be in that mix.

Lol @ Cardboard box. If we can find an established veteran via FA (Jason Campbell comes to mind here) then this would work out. Got to get rid of Tebow though first. If we sign Jason Campbell, Mark and Jason should battle it out for the starting position. Calvin Pace, Eric Smith, Brandon Moore, Matt Slauson, those players will be tough to replace IMO. We need to revamp the offensive line as well. I don't see McIntyre as a replacement for Calvin Pace, because he's not that every down linebacker like Pace used to be. Jets need to draft some linebackers and offensive lineman in this years' draft.

If Rex were able to make his own decisions when he was hired, he would of signed Hue Jackson as an OC. Having him and Jason Campbell on the team would of worked wonders in 2009
