Well written and thoughtful OP, but while I understand your reasoning, my personal hope is that they go in a different direction somewhat. As long as I've been a Jets fan, and for decades before that, the Jets have always had quarterbacks that varied between absolutely terrible and functioning but with great flaws. To me, this seems like the single biggest reason why we haven't won a SuperBowl in all that time. Because of that, I would like to see the Jets focus more on the QB position. What would bringing in Michael Vick or another over the hill veteran with lots of questions do other than prolong our painful history? Why not instead use some draft picks on young quarterback prospects who can actually turn out to be that elusive franchise quarterback? Obviously you can't just draft quarterbacks, but this is the one position important enough that until you find that special guy, I wouldn't be against drafting a prospect a year or something like that. Then have that guy compete with Geno in the offseason and training camp, and if Geno doesn't improve, put that guy in, and give him a chance, and keep doing that until you find someone. This may seem a little counter-intuitive, as a lot of people think that given Rex's defense, if we only plug in some veteran qb, we can win it all, but I just don't see it. Teams win Superbowls with franchise quarterbacks, not journeymen. I'd rather sacrifice a bit up-front, in order to build a real contender, rather than going for a quick fix and building an also-ran.

Other than that, I would also focus more on secondary and OL, and less on WR/TE. Our defense has a chance to be dominant, so a quality FS and a 2nd CB to compliment Milliner are essential. Allen would make a good strong safety I think. Don't feel too confident in Ferguson or Winters so I would definitely keep my eyes open for OT and OG in the draft. As far as receiving corps, I would skip TEs this offseason, as Cumberland is decent, and I really think Sudfeld has potential and should get more playing time. Loved him in limited reps last year. I would sign a WR for a reasonable amount (pass the high end guys like Decker, someone for less money but still decent), and then draft another guy in mid rounds (2nd-5th). Those two plus Curley should be a major upgrade for next season. The rest of picks would just be BPA among those positions.

    Horible, just plain horrible.

The game is won in the trenches.

After blowing all / most of our cap space on receivers and a fragile QB (Vick is has a big injury history) you compound the problem by doubling down and using a first and third rounder on pass catchers as well.

So now with Vick as our fragile QB who do you bring in to play guard? No one.

Not only do you hand the underachieving Winters a starting job but you put the inexperienced Campbell at the other guard spot with absolutely no one to back up either spot since Ducasse is leaving as a free agent.

In addition to getting all of our QBs killed you give our RBs no chance to rush the ball as our weak ass OL gets pushed all the way back into the end zone for safety after safety.

If you thought Geno was a turnover machine last year wait and see what your plan can achieve.

The CB in round three is another luxury pick that could have been used to fill holes on the OL or at the safety position that you failed to address in free agency.
