Josh Martin is such an underrated topic of discussion when speaking of OLB's. I myself had no clue and was not aware that he ranked 1st on our defense with 12 tackles for loss behind the L.O.S and 2nd behind only Leonard Williams in QB hits with 20. Those words from Kevin Greene on Josh Martin are promising or at least encouraging for the 26 year old. Most certainly not our pass rushing OLB monster of the future @ OLB but nonetheless a good read.
Only way to work on number 1 and 2 is reps, reps, and more reps. Darnold has already shown the ability to shake off and learn from his mistakes so hopefully he'll catch on sooner rather than later.
You know his daily schedule? You know what time he goes to bed at night? How about when he eats dinner and when he takes a dump? Some people do better work late in their day - some do better early. The guy is supposed to be an adult and a professional; he better never be late to scheduled activities but should be capable of budgeting his own time to make the best of it on his internal clock. Why would you not want a guy studying at night if it's productive for him rather than getting up at an hour that doesn't work for him?
Why don't you start making sense. This is about a QB who was reporting late and got told as much. You want to defend him, divert the message of the link I posted. Go for it. But If you're defending his right to stay up until 2, to think someone suggesting he might want to hit the sack earlier is getting up is a problem you're clueless to the point of the discussion. Get over it, he's not a jet
How many people do you know who get up five hours before they go to work in the morning? There may be a few but most people don't because the value of being well rested has been acknowledged by the medical community for as long as the has been a medical community. Forcing somebody to reset their body clock is detrimental to performance, not an enhancement. What do you suggest he do between four AM and say, seven that would help his game?
Get up 5 hours before? What are you talking about? No one came close to saying that. He's living in a RV in the parking lot. He's right there, why the hell would he need to get up 5 hours early? Can you read?
It's not about that. It's about carrying yourself as a professional. You can not be late to team practices and/or team meetings. Not as a rookie you can't. And not as a team leader neither. I means. Fans attacked Bowles for player's such as Sheldon Richardson and Mo Wilkerson for walking through those doors late. It does sound "cliché" but quarterbacks do need to be the 1st one to arrive and the last one to leave. Especially from a rookie QB who's not top the teams depth chart. And judging from their head coach, no; he's not at all thrilled with his 1st overall draft picks work ethic. Nothing to really argue about here. Mayfield has a lot of maturing and growing up to do and it's obvious Tyrod Taylor is out working him as a leader.
Great story, kid has heart and desire and looks like he had the talent to back it up, I hope his story has a good end, for us and him
Another under thrown, intercepted deep ball from Darnold today....it seems that most of his mistakes are happening when he decided to go deep. I'm wondering what may be the reason for that? We know he has god velocity....maybe just trying to take too much sauce off the ball.
Chris Nimbley suggested the WRs have let him down on deep balls throughout camp. This sounds like a lack of chemistry..but it is worrisome..
I'm not overly concerned....and it was actually 3 almost 4 in the last 2 practices....it's clearly an area that needs work. Hoping it's a chemistry/route issue more than Darnold struggling with a deep ball.
speed of the game. much different throwing to robbie anderson then the scrubs at WRs he had at USC last season.
@EliteSportsNY Listen, it's obvious ... Sam Darnold is by far the most talented of the three quarterbacks. 7-on-7 he came up with a beauty on an out to Clive Walford at the goalline with a pump fake and just squeezing it in am impossible window through OLB Josh Martin and others. #Jets 3:46 PM
Chris Nimbley@Cnimbley The receivers continue to let Darnold down on deep passes, no one needs to run that fast #Jets 4:00 PM - Aug 8, 2018 3 See Chris Nimbley's other Tweets
I don't understand this tweet, no one needs to run that fast? Perhaps it is a chemistry issue and also a situation where the game simply needs to slow down for Darnold. Speed is speed, if they are going hard on each play then kudos to the receivers.
clive still looking good! i was stoked when we picked him up. and yeah sams ability to extend plays and get the throw out on time puts him above the others IMO. he may still make rookie mistakes here and there and adjust to the speed of the game but he has much more natural talent then teddy or mccown and the personality and drive to use that talent to become great. as i said before his play style is very similar to aaron rodgers
