I don't think Geno is getting "yanked" anytime soon unless he really comes apart at the seams or gets hurt. The Jets don't have much invested in either qb, but he's the chosen one and the FO doesn't want to deal with the brouhaha that would ensue if they were to sit him at this time.

Simms looks like anything but a "game manager" to me. He's got a big arm that can put the ball on a receiver quickly. If he can actually play with the big boys, that's a big "reward". And if he doesn't play well, the Jets look like buffoons all over again...that's the big "risk" that keeps Simms on the bench.

Are these the same coaches teaching ball security?

Yeah...I hold their opinion in high regard.

    coaching

Players take time to overcome bad habits and integrate them into their game. Coaches show them how it should be done. Players don't always learn so quickly.

Are you suggesting you know more about quarterbacks than the Jets coaching staff?

    Not at all.

I'm still trying to figure out why Geno takes a 7-9 step drop out of the shotgun.

are you suggesting that Sanchez got that contract extension and the Jets traded for Tebow without Rex's okay?

Yup. Simms had one good game, in the last preseason game, against backups. And now, whenever Geno makes a mistake, the ignorant among us scream from the rooftops for Simms even though they have no idea what he looks like on the field 95% of the time. They screamed for McElroy. They screamed for Ratliff. They screamed for Clemens. They screamed for joy when Pennington got hurt. Then when the new those new guys suck even worse, they scream for castoffs like Vick and Schaub.

I wish they would just shut the fuck up and give the kid a chance for once. I'm sick of the O'Donnell, Boomer, Favre turnstile. We need to develop a QB for the long term and that takes patience. Suck it up people and support your QB.

The reason we are screaming is our QB play has sucked. Clemens by the way was as least as good a prospect as Geno.

The only people who screamed for joy when Pennington got hurt were assholes. I wanted Clemens to start but not to see Pennington get hurt. Same is true with Sanchez. I would like to see Simms play but I fine with Geno so far. If he continues to blow chunks I would like to see Simms get a chance without Geno getting hurt. Sitting a bit might actually do him some good. Hopefully he starts playing much better and it becomes a moot point. As long as the QB play is subpar no reason the fans shouldn't want to see someone else.

Not sure if you comprehend how the NFL draft works, but it's the GM and on the scouts' advice that those draft picks are made. That is all.

And all along I thought Belicheck had a thing for big tight ends with good hands.

And all along I thought people on this board had common sense. Comparing apples and oranges, buddy. There's numerous scouts out there for a reason.

So you're stating that an NFL Head Coach has no influence on draft day?

    That is daft.

If Smith implodes for the 5th straight week s and has 2 plus turnovers and fails to generate points you need to give Simms some snaps. It isn't fair to the rest of the team or the coaching staff to let one player ruin the team. If MIlliner can get benched as your top pick you have to be willing to sit Smith.

Um, it'd be at least 4 weeks for him to implode a fifth straight. No way you can call his performance against the Bills an implosion.
