I doubt he's getting traded before the regular season. If Darnold isn't ready, I hope Teddy can get the job he gives the Jets the best chance to win.
If he's not traded before the regular season then I hope he starts as well. Only because I want to capitalize on his value when a.) he's on a one year deal with little to no chance he comes back and b.) he's only played 8ish full games since a massive injury.
Agreed, I would love to see him maximize his value with the Jets. Perhaps the Jets extend him for a year then try and trade him, if he starts 16 games and leads the Jets to the playoffs.
Teddy hasn't played in like 3 years, is coming off a horrific injury, and is in a new system. McCown was a top 15 QB last season with terrible talent around him, and is the incumbent in the same system. That's who gives us the best chance to win imo..
McCown choked in a bunch of games last year, especially when we needed him the most. Top 15, but 25th best QB as they would say Teddy plays better under pressure. So far, he's been healthy ... once TC comes around he continues to show that, he should beat out McCown for the job unless Darnold is ready.
haha is that you Junc? btw, that statement is junk.. McCown was the only reason we moved the ball at all (as we saw once he went on IR)..
Above average QB play was a huge upgrade for the Jets, and will do until Darnold ready. Teddy has never exactly shined bright either. But he will be the most popular player on the sidelines this year, as the backup QB always is.
Oh yeah that statement is horrible, I just wanted to see if I could pull it off haha ... McCown did great last year, I won't discredit that ... but I mean you are comparing him to much lesser QBs in Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg ... he still choked in several games ... Falcons game, Dolphins game, Bucs game ... I am sure there is another game I missed.
I wonder what we can expect from Enunwa this season. He's in a strange place. He looked great the last time he played but it was before this major injury and it was limited to begin with. He also doesn't have established guys on the outside like he did last time.
It doesn't matter how Mcclown played last season. The only thing that matters is how he looks right now. And with old guys like him, that can change in an instant. His age works against him on another level too. If Bridgewater is even close to him, Bridge should be the week 1 starter. No point in playing the 40 year old when it's just a stop gap anyway. having said that, I fully expect Mcclown to start and probably start 12 games or something cause of Todd Bowles
I think Q will bounce back, given no setbacks ... If defenses are going to sleep on Q and Robby, they are going to be in for a long day IMO. Also add in Kearse and Chad Hansen, you got 4 solid receivers that don't really drop passes. The Jets actually had one of the best drop rates in the league last year. I'm excited to see these 4 young guns prove themselves out there.
Slightly above average. Mccown will be Fitzpatrick all over again. At least with teddy we know he can manage a playoff team .
Well I agree that the best guy should play, and that it's year to year. As of now, McCown is the incumbent and still playing well from early camp reports. In terms of Bridgewater, he's also just a stop gap, maybe even on a shorter term than McCown as he won't be here for long. And enough with the Bowles only plays vets crap......you're better than that. He plays the best guys regardless of age or draft selection, which is how it should be.
Slightly above average on a team predicted to go 0-16, with bottom level offensive talent. That's an accomplishment in itself, and no one predicted it. We saw what our offense looked like without him. I don't give more credit to a QB because he played on a better team for a very brief period of time. For Teddy to win the job, he'll have to earn it. Nothing suggests he deserves the job over McCown, especially after last season.
The Bucs game was a total dud by McCown and the rest of the team. I actually went to that game, and it was equal parts boring and odd. The Dolphins and Falcons I felt the coaches choked it away. McCown put the team in a great position with early leads, and then the coaches got crazy conservative and took the ball out of his hands until it was too late. Horribly coached games imo. If they stay on the throttle they easily win both.
