Francoeur isn't Latino, and he got to damage this team's lineup for far too long. Pagan is Latino, and he sat for Gary Matthews on Opening Day.

The name players are the thing. They're obsessed with fading stars they've seen on SportsCenter. They saw Gary Matthews make a catch, neglected that the Angels were willing to pay millions just to get rid of him, and annointed Sarge their starting player. They let Francoeur go up there hacking like an ass with no approach because he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated and "a good locker room guy."

It's an incoherent philosophy, and while they do disproportionately rush Hispanic prospects, I don't think it's race based for the most part. It's just atrocious.

I believe they're unwilling to rebuild the team because watching a young team go under .500 for 3 straight seasons isn't going to fill up the seats and sell out the concession stands. It's a dumb way to run a baseball team, especially in a big market.

I dunno, eventually they're gonna have to bite the bullet and blow things up.

It wasn't that long ago the Mets had to endure some shitty teams while they waited for guys like Wright and Reyes to arrive, they can do it again. Plus, it's important to note that big market teams can turn over their rosters fairly quickly as long as they avoid truly crippling contracts.

I don't think he would have been good with the Mets. I think he's overrated and he always wears out his welcome pretty fast. This is a guy who has a huge rulebook for his teams. The Mets, as a whole, don't seem to be the type of team that would respond to such a taskmaster.
A shit talkin' alcoholic (Wally Backman) who expects his players to play hard and does not make his players read a 100-page binder would fit the team better I think.

Besides, Showalter is one of those guys who, like Rick Peterson, regularly wears a jacket in 90 degree weather. You can't trust guys like that. You don't know what the fuck's under the jacket. Peterson and Showalter might be wearing bras.

Noticed in the Daily News today that the only 3 Mets who didn't go to the Walter Reed Hospital in Wash. DC were Perez, Castillo and Beltran.
What pieces of shit. It says a lot about their characters. Or lackthereof.

Yeah, I heard about that while driving home from work. A caller alerted Francesser to it. Francesser said that it looks really bad. As for those three particular players, he said you couldn't make it up.

He did not want to slaughter the players too bad until he got more info. Francesser wondered if maybe they were protesting for some reason similar to how Carlos Delgado did not stand for the National Anthem.

Just looked into it on SNY and Beltran had a prior commitment in PR building a high school and said he had the ok from Wilpon. Castillo said he'd be too "squeamish," (wow!). Perez wouldn't discuss the matter.
Still think it's bullshit. They don't "have" to do shit, but to brighten someone's day for an hour just to say hello and sign some autographs for people who gave their all so they can make 5 million bucks to field a baseball, they really should.

Both cannot be with the team in 2011. There's no way.

Castillo should be put in a banana boat off the coast of Miami. Just let him float away to Central America.

Perez should be tarred and feathered.

I'm a Mets fan and I am completely outraged. I know I come on this board spewing a lot of pro-southern stuff, but at the end of the day we're all Americans, and baseball is our game north and south. If these ballplayers cannot adopt our way of life and respect our (their) military wounded and fallen/ing, they can go fuck themselves back to the dominican republic, costa rica, or whatever shithole socialist democratic narcostate they come from.

I was surprised to hear that about Beltran, so I'm glad to hear that he was in fact doing previously arranged charity work that had been approved. As Cakes said, there is absolutely no way that Castillo and Perez should be on the team next year.

Forget about taking a gun in there. You won't get it through security.

I think you should take them out after the game. If it is a night game, the darkness will be to your benefit. I am pretty sure the player's parking lot is along the right field entrance. There is a fenced in area nearby in which you could set up the sniper rifle. There is sizable weed growth in that fenced in area so to use as camouflage.
