If you look at just oe of his posts... he seems like a fairly reasonable person... some of his predictios and points are a bit over the top, but not at a ban-able level. The problem with the way he posts... is that he will reiterate the same points in a repetitive and obnoxious nature. He'll say the same thing in every thread, and even make new threads about the same things... He's just annoying...
spoiled rich athletes. im sorry but it is true. I give the most credit to football players because they have the roughest of jobs but they are still so prissy if you ask me.
As far as I understand, thats wrong. LW will be an RFA. The rules say that if the player played 4 capped yrs. His contract expires at the end of the 09 season, a capped season. He becomes an RFA since his entire contract was during capped years.
If thats the case, then I think we should let him play out the contract. No one will sit out and not get paid when they want more money. Once he plays out his contract, put a first and third round tender on him and use him for another year. Two yrs later, he'd be 29. An RB at 29 is pretty good, but won't have much left in the tank. Doing so, we can save probably about $7-10 millions in the two yrs. If someone else tries to snatch him after this yr, we'll be getting a first and a third anyways, can't beat that. If he was a QB, WR, OL, DL, LB, or DB performing at similar level, he would have been signed already. If him and TJ want to take to floor, make sure we teach them a lesson, especially TJ. I like LW. He is surely underpaid, but looking at this purely as business, Jets will not give him a contract extension. Atleast not this yr. NFL is not sport now a days. Its more of a 'I played well last yr so pay me more or I'll leave' type of business. I wouldn't be surprised or pissed if Leon gets a new contract. I'll admit, he deserves it way more than the shitbrick TJ does.
I think that's a good thing for us in the negotiations... becuase we can go to the agent and say: given we love LW and given we thinks he deserves a higher salary... keep in mind that if what you are asking for is unrealistic this year he'll play for 500k and next year he'll be a RFA so basically if we want he stays here the next 2 years for a lot less money than what you are asking. I hope this makes us sign him in the 4-5 mill range... PS anybody knows more or less how much money S. Greene is going o make? I have no Idea what a 3rd round pick gets...
Something in the range of 3 years, $2 million. Leon knows his base salary this season will be what it is no matter what. He's looking for assurances (in the form of up front money) before going into another season and risking injury. If he gets signed to an extension, he immediately collects on the signing bonus, but any sort of increased salary won't hit until next season. Essentially, he's playing for $500k this season no matter what. Anything above that would be a reflection of his extension.
LEON'S BOYCOTT MIGHT BE OVER By MARK CANNIZZARO May 14, 2009 There appears to be a thaw in the Jets-Leon Washington contract impasse. Washington, who's been boycotting the first in a series of organized team activities (OTAs) because he's unhappy with how the negotiations for a new contract have been going, might soon return to the OTAs. His agent, Alvin Keels, yesterday posted a message on his Twitter account that made it sound as if he and the Jets are on a better track toward coming up with a new deal for Washington. JETS BLOG "Positive talk with the Jets today," Keels stated on his Twitter account yesterday. "Jets fans, everything will be fine. Myself and Mike T [Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum] will put our heads together and continue to work." This came one day after Keels posted a tough-luck message on Twitter, saying he wanted to get Washington back into camp but this is "a business." Members of Jets management were rattled by Washington's decision to stay away from OTAs, according to sources inside their Florham Park facility because Washington always has been a solid citizen and team leader. Keels didn't say when Washington would return to the OTAs, but his tone suggested that as long as the negotiations were moving along, his client would be back soon. Reporters have access to the locker room in between OTA sessions today, so it'll be interesting to see if Washington has returned and what he has to say. Washington, an all-purpose threat on offense and special teams, is believed to be seeking a deal that'll pay him some $5 million a year with guaranteed money in the $17.5 million neighborhood that Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew got in a recent deal. Washington is due to earn $535,000 in 2009, the final season of his original four-year contract -- vastly underpaid for his value. Thomas Jones, who also wants a new contract, has been boycotting all team activities this offseason. He's entering the third year of a four-year front-loaded contract worth $20 million. As the AFC rushing champion last season, Jones wants a new deal, but the Jets are more likely to lock up a new deal with the dynamic, 26-year-old Washington.
It's really pretty lame for a purported sports agent to be providing updates as to his client's contract negotiations via his personal twitter account.
No fucking shit. I'd pay Leon his $5 million per in a heartbeat. The only snag is making a deal fit under the cap without Sanchez signing yet. It'll have to be an extension with carefully structured bonus money.
I think $5 mil for this yr would be way too much. I don't know what the situation would be like in 2010 though. A 5yr, $22 mil with $10 mil guaranteed, with the 5th yr being optional at $6 mil. Something like that basically means 4yrs 16 mil. A 4yrs $20 mil contract would be too much, but if thats the deal breaker (or maker), then probably do it. NO EXTENSION FOR MFTJ!!!!!!
Aren't u glad it wasn't myspace? Yeah, I think its pretty lame to even have a Twitter account and use it to write stuff like "I'm shitting right now and I think there's no toilet paper"
I pride myself on having never "Twittered," this of course includes posting my own "Twittalations" or reading someone else's "Twitshit."
The fact that Leon's agent posted that on twitter is the 2nd most rediculous thing i've ever heard. The first being, of course, that can-o-lardo actually reported it as real news.
