The Eagles botched everything from the Sheppard situation which left them both pretty ineffective last year. Sheppard when healthy is a big upgrade

To be fair, McNabb is a big part of the reason why they don't have more weapons. He's always favored spreading the ball around to having a true #1 threat that he favors. That was even the case with TO in town. They likely won't spend money to bring in a huge playmaker (outside of the backfield) as long as McNabb is back there. Having said that, he's far from the reason for all their failures.

I'm wondering the same thing. I found details on Rotoworld, but it only attributes the details to a "Report", with no link to the report.

I know Cimini has reported it also, but I'm not finding anything on the Jets' webpage about it (but they're always the last to publish this stuff)

When Lito was at his best he was shining against #1 Receivers...now he is up against #2's

Why are people happy about the 'conditional pick' part? It could end up being a 2nd rounder and we don't know the conditions that would trigger that. Maybe he just needs to play 50% of the snaps por something. We don't know. I'm still on the fence as to this until we get details.

BTW, why didn't we even look at Leigh Bodden? Is he asking for too much money?

Just a guess, but wouldn't the best insurance against a player with questionable health be a clause based on playing time?

Denver did it with D-Slob (degenerative knee injury) and NO did it with Vilma (leg injury). I think both results were fair for both teams given the particulars and the trend would point to that being the case again in the Sheppard trade.

Out of interest, the Jets say:

"The New York Jets have acquired cornerback Lito Sheppard from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for undisclosed conditional draft choices."

Could both picks be conditional then?

So there's a rumour out there that the 2 picks are a conditional pick in 2010 and a further conditional pick in 2011? That's interesting.

It depends on what the actual clause is. That's why I'm waiting to hear details before yelling 'hurray', like half the board. :)

BTW, we got absolutely nothing for D-Rob, and Vilma resigned with NO after FA started, so we didn't get upgraded to a 2nd. Vilma is a top flight LB and we traded him away for cheap. Basically the Jets got the low end of both deals.

I agree on the Vilma part but the Jets getting rid of D'Rob's salary helped them a lot.

I just wish we could have gotten some value for 1-2 people we released so far this year.

Is a 5th rounder and a conditional a steal or what??

It could turn out that way but don't forget he wasn't even a starter and we gave up two picks for him..and he will make over 3 million bucks next year..not the steal you think.

Especially if we get the 5th back in 2010, as per Boland. Which would also mean we only give up 1 pick in total.
